when: Saturday, August 16 - Wednesday, August 20
where: 8226 Alsóörs, Sirály park

When the sun sets on summer, Alsóörs (Alsóörs) throws a party that tries to keep everyone from heading home. The Farewell to Summer & Guest-Retaining Festival (Nyárbúcsúztató és Vendégmarasztaló Fesztivál) 2025 runs from August 16 to August 20 in Sirály Park (Sirály Park), and promises more music, dance, and culinary delights than you can shake a wine glass at. The region puts its best foot forward, inviting everyone to stay a little longer—and to come back next year as well.

Music, Dance, and Nonstop Festivities

The festival lineup is packed with well-known Hungarian performers, with shows from Tibor Kocsis, Andrea Szulák, Tamás Vastag, and Dóra Szinetár. Each day offers a full schedule of live concerts, folk dances, and cultural programs, designed to keep the energy high long after the sun goes down. Whether you’re a local or a vacationer, you’ll hardly have a chance to get bored.

Gastronomy That Refuses to Let You Leave

Food is serious business here—Alsóörs (Alsóörs) offers a dizzying array of treats for every palate. Local chefs wield their frying pans, brick ovens, and plenty of passion to deliver everything from traditional Hungarian classics to modern vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. The weekly garden parties, held in lush green surroundings, are a highlight, with master chefs whipping up dishes that make guests feel like lifelong friends rather than customers.

Quality wines pair perfectly with these culinary masterpieces, especially at Carpaccio (Carpaccio) and the family-run Familia restaurant. Dishes are prepared, whenever possible, from farm-fresh local ingredients. Organizers compare their approach to Michelangelo sculpting angels from marble—with care, reverence, and a drive for perfection. The century-old Fisherman’s Tavern (Halásztanya) restaurant is uniquely atmospheric, tying local traditions and devotion to quality into every plate.

For those who love their food with a view, the thatched-roof, beachside restaurant opposite the main entrance of the Alsóörs (Alsóörs) beach has you covered, serving up family-style meals and local favorites. And if your journey home calls for a unique souvenir, duck into the Soma Cellar Vinotheque (Soma Pince Vinotéka), housed in a two-hundred-year-old manor basement. This is the only true wine shop in the area where you can buy bottles from Hungary’s most famous winemakers.

Where to Stay? Options for All

Finding a place to stay is no problem. Rose Apartment (Rózsa Apartman), just a ten-minute walk from the lakeshore, features spacious studios and apartments (with local air conditioning in the upstairs rooms). Families will appreciate the outdoor pool, playground, and tranquil gardens with sunbeds. Four apartments are available, and while it’s peaceful, four-legged friends can’t be accommodated.

Elsewhere, the 4-star Pelso Camping (Europa Camping, Európa Kemping) on the Alsóörs (Alsóörs)-Palóznak (Palóznak) border is directly on Lake Balaton (Balaton), offering 376 pitches, four holiday houses, and 200 mobile homes across 49 acres—a blend of vast space and a close-knit, family vibe.

For hotel fans, Hotel Aranysas (Golden Eagle Hotel, Aranysas Hotel) (3-star) is a two-minute stroll from the water and eight kilometers from Balatonfüred (Balatonfüred). It offers a mix of rooms and wooden cottages, with pets welcome in the cottages for a fee and free parking in the enclosed lot.

If you’d rather focus on pampering, local wellness hotels around Alsóörs (Alsóörs) offer hot tubs, air-conditioned rooms, and a friendly staff committed to making your end-of-summer escape unforgettable.

One Last Note

The organizers reserve the right to change the schedule or program, so keep an eye out for any updates. One thing’s for sure: at the Alsóörs (Alsóörs) Summer Farewell Festival, you’ll be very reluctant to say goodbye.
