Vörs rolls out Europe’s largest church-based Nativity scene from November 30, 2025, to January 25, 2026, filling Saint Martin (Szent Márton) Church with an ever-changing winter spectacle that draws tens of thousands from across Hungary and abroad. On Advent Sundays, confession is available before Mass.
How a Village Built a Tradition
This is the 75th edition. Decades ago, locals removed the Sacred Heart altar inside the church to make space for a modest Nativity. It didn’t stay modest for long. Today, aside from the human and animal figures, the giant installation is crafted from gypsum and strictly natural materials. Building it now takes 8–10 days of disciplined, well-organized teamwork by villagers, and every year they overhaul the layout with fresh ideas.
When to Visit
Open November 30, 2025, through January 25, 2026, inside Saint Martin (Szent Márton) Church, 6 Ady Street (Ady u. 6.), Vörs (8711). Mass is celebrated every Advent Sunday, with confession available beforehand.

Entering the village, you’ll reach Kossuth Lajos Street; after a sharp left at its end, continue along Alkotmány Street until the yellow church appears ahead.
By Train, It’s Easy
