Looking for something inspiring and memorable next fall? The Archdiocese of Veszprém (Veszprémi Főegyházmegye) has you covered with a jam-packed calendar of events from October through November 2025, featuring exhibitions, concerts, family-friendly activities, historical tours, faith journeys, and more in and around Veszprém.

Nightlong Adoration at Magdi Festival

Kicking things off on the weekend of October 25-26, night owls and early risers alike are invited to a twelve-hour Eucharistic adoration marathon at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church (Jézus Szíve templom) in Balatonfűzfő. Beginning at 7:00 PM on Saturday and continuing until 7:00 AM on Sunday, the event honors Blessed Maria Magdalena Bódi—known as Magdi—who lived, worked, and worshiped in this very church.

Attendees are encouraged to spend moments or hours in quiet prayer and song, reflecting on Magdi’s devotion and the call to put Christ at the center of life. Whether you come for a short visit or stay the whole night, the quiet power of prayer and presence promises a unique spiritual recharge.

Experience Magdi’s Story: Magdi-Tour

On Sunday, October 26, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, explore Magdi’s life through the interactive Magdi-Tour. Starting from the Bíró-Giczey House (Bíró-Giczey-ház), wander alone or with friends through stations across the city, churches, and historic sites connected to Magdi. Solve puzzles, discover quotes, and take on mini-challenges designed for all ages. Families, youth groups, parish communities, and school classes are especially welcome—the aim is not just to learn about Magdi, but to experience her joyful faith and inner strength.

Thanksgiving Mass and Festival High Point

Sunday evening marks the spiritual high point: a festive mass led by Archbishop György Udvardy at St. Michael’s Cathedral (Szent Mihály-székesegyház) in Veszprém, starting at 6:00 PM. This mass is more than a liturgical celebration; it’s a chance to give thanks for Magdi’s life and her legacy of pure, courageous faith—a faith organizers hope will inspire new generations to seek happiness and inner clarity.

Orlando Choir Concert: Music for the Soul

As the Magdi Festival winds down, the cathedral is transformed once again. At 7:00 PM, immediately after mass, the acclaimed Orlando Choir presents Musica Paenitentiae & Gratiae (“Music of Repentance and Grace”). Expect an evening of sacred works, beautifully performed to evoke Magdi’s spirit of purity and faithfulness. The concert blends sublime melodies with moments of quiet reflection, closing the festival with gratitude and contemplation.

“Ride With Magdi”: Cycle Pilgrimage

Of course, no Magdi celebration would be complete without a two-wheeled adventure. On Sunday, October 26, starting at 8:45 AM, cycling pilgrims will gather at Balatonfüred train station to retrace the path of Magdi’s vows, commemorating her 1941 pledge of purity in Balatonfűzfő. After a brief prayer, cyclists set off at 9:30 AM toward Balatonfűzfő for a relic procession and church prayers, lunch, a memorial at Litér (the site of Magdi’s martyrdom), and onward to Veszprém, arriving around 4:00 PM.

Participants may join a guided tour of the cathedral at 4:30 PM and a book launch at 5:00 PM before attending festival mass. The ride concludes by 7:00 PM so everyone can catch trains back to Budapest as needed.

The ride welcomes up to 45 participants, groups or solo cyclists, with luggage transfer services available. Riders under 30 pay USD 8, while those 30 and over pay USD 16, non-refundable. The registration deadline is October 23 at noon, and overnight accommodation is available for those who wish to join the nightlong adoration. Older participants travel in their own group, with some separate programming.

Guided Castle Walks and More

From October 23-26, Veszprém’s cobbled streets invite visitors on guided historical tours, winding through the city’s storied Castle District (Várnegyed).

Autumn Rendezvous for Couples & Families

Mark your calendar for November 8: An evening of reflection and connection awaits at the Gizella Hotel and Restaurant (Gizella Hotel és Étterem) from 5:00 PM. Join author Anna Karady (Karady Anna) and her husband, Máté Molnár (Molnár Máté), for a thoughtful conversation about marriage and family. The Berzeviczi couple, Zoli and Rita, will present a musical-literary program, “Leaning Into Time.” Parents are welcome to bring children—fun activities are planned for the little ones! The event is free with registration; homemade pastries are welcome as contributions.

Workshops for Parents: Positive Discipline

On November 19 at 6:00 PM, the next “Parenting Evenings” event focuses on atypical childrearing and Positive Discipline. Child expert Móni Füstös offers practical advice at Padányi Catholic School (Padányi Katolikus Iskola, Szeglethy Street 6, Veszprém), helping parents encourage loving, consistent discipline and a positive home environment. Free entry with registration—ideal support for anyone navigating the joys and challenges of parenting in today’s complex world.

Please note: Event details are subject to change at the organizers’ discretion.
