Budapest’s legendary 100-Member Gypsy Orchestra (100 Tagú Cigányzenekar) is bringing back its grand MUSIC-WINE (ZENE-BOR) gala for the 29th year on December 30, 2025. Set in the Novotel Budapest City & Congress Center, this one-of-a-kind orchestra presents a two-part concert known for its virtuosic Gypsy music, classical favorites, and reimagined folk pieces—all delivered with the color and flair that only the “Hundred” can provide.
A Night of Fireworks and Operetta
Orchestra leader József Csócsi Lendvai (Lendvai Csócsi József) promises another unforgettable evening, ending with fireworks and crowd-pleasing encores like Skylark (Pacsirta) and Radetzky March (Radetzky induló). Fans of Hungarian operetta get a special treat with selections from Ferenc Lehár and Imre Kálmán, sung by stars of the Budapest Operetta Theater (Budapesti Operettszínház).
For those with an appetite, guests can enjoy a culinary tour de force during the music. The ensemble’s 40th anniversary is celebrated with a festive menu: goose liver torchon with candied orange chutney and mangalica ham, guinea fowl consommé, bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with gratin potatoes, and pumpkin seed choux with raspberry for dessert—plus white, red, and rosé wines, mineral water, and coffee. Vegetarian options are available on request. A deluxe cold dinner plate is also available for some categories, featuring specialties like goose liver, salmon gravlax, goat cheese tart, and eggplant caviar.
