Fehérvárcsurgó’s Károlyi Castle, a jewel of Fejér County set in a tranquil 124-acre old-growth park, has lined up a high-caliber cultural calendar for 2026. The aristocratic estate, a member of the European Network of Cultural Centres, combines grandeur with easy access, hosting outdoor spectacles and intimate concerts alike across its mansion, chapel, and visitor center.
Winter: Walks, Tales, Glass Art
January opens with a Botanical Walk in the castle park on January 18, followed by Story Hours with Éva Fazekas at the Visitor Center on January 31. From February 13–28, Pál Kálmán’s Glass Sculpture Exhibition takes over the Visitor Center, framed by another Botanical Walk on February 15.
Spring: Music, Imagination, Ideas
March 10 brings The Land of Imagination – in Images and Music, featuring an exhibition by the legendary soprano Sylvia Sass, plus a piano concert by Balázs Fülei and a recital by soprano Mariana Pires. A Botanical Walk returns March 15. On March 20–21, an international conference tackles The Perception of Religion During the EU’s Building and Enlargement. Easter Sunday, April 12, hosts a chapel concert with the Hangellika Choir. On April 18, Sonates à deux – a German–French dialogue (Bach, Schaffrath, Boismortier) spotlights harpsichordist Mónika Kecskés on Baroque instruments, followed by an April 19 Botanical Walk. May 9–15 brings The Writers of European Consciousness exhibition to the Visitor Center, with a May 17 park walk.
Summer: Gardens, Film Scores, Academy
June 5–7: the 22nd European Ornamental Plant and Garden Art Days returns with an exhibition and fair. Botanical Walks continue June 21 and July 19. On July 17, Voice & Brass Band performs film music outdoors on the castle park island. August 9–16 welcomes the ECHO Summer Music Academy and concerts, plus an August 16 park walk.
Autumn: Quartets, Heritage, Craft
A September 20 Botanical Walk precedes Quartettissimo, the 17th European String Quartet Festival, September 25–27. On October 16–17, a monument protection conference is co-organized with the University of Pécs (Pécs University); October 17 follows with a chapel choral and organ concert by Gabriella Semjénné Menus, and an October 18 Botanical Walk. November 13–15: Fresh Harvest, the 10th Contemporary Applied Arts Salon and Fair, plus the traditional candlelit St. Elizabeth’s Day concert on November 14 and a November 15 park walk.
Year’s Close
A final Botanical Walk rounds off the year on December 20.
