Residents of Szomolya will honor the heroes of 1956 with a solemn, silent ceremony this year. Participants will gather at the Heroes’ Memorial to listen to commemorative speeches, then lay wreaths and candles, bowing their heads in tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom and their country. The event invites everyone in the community to join in this quiet reflection.
Pumpkins, Crafts, and Christmas Cheer
Ready to get creative? On October 26, Szomolya will host a pumpkin carving workshop where you can craft cheerful, funny, or spooky lanterns to take home. Registration closes on October 21, so don’t miss out on making your glittering pumpkin centerpiece.
The winter spirit continues with a series of festive gatherings: a Winter Welcoming Craft Day on November 30, the Flashing Advent Calendar game on December 1, the traditional Santa Claus celebration on December 4, and a Christmas party for seniors on December 13. The Christmas Tree Decorating Contest sparks friendly competition on December 21, before the entire village rings in the new year together on December 31.
