If you want ten days jam-packed with global music, dance, and traditions, Summerfest Százhalombatta (Százhalombatta) is your destination in August 2025. From August 12 to 21, the city will host the 32nd edition of one of Europe’s biggest folk festivals, buzzing with concerts, theater, and dance from Hungary and far beyond.
Opening Acts and Early Highlights
Kicking off on August 12 at the BKK Stepped Terrace (BKK Lépcsős Terrace): world music concerts, followed by performances by the Source Folk Dance Company (Forrás Folk Dance Company) and the Independent Theatre (Független Theatre). Each evening brings a new lineup—such as a performance by the Ádám Rozbora Quartet (Rozbora Ádám Quartett), plus a live staging of “Dorottya” by the Gyula Gózon Theatre (Gózon Gyula Theatre). The Péter Sárik Trio (Sárik Péter Trio), Vujicsics Ensemble, and more deliver vibrant music as the days go on.
Folk, Parades, and Parties
By August 16, things really heat up with a flag-raising ceremony, musical parades pulsing through town, and a massive gala in Saint Stephen’s Square (Szent István Square). Locals and guests mingle to the tunes of the Budapest Klezmer Band and join international dance lessons at the Ball of Nations Night (Night of Nations Ball). Want to keep the fun going? Head to the Festival Club for events ranging from Black and White themes to retro dance parties.
Family Days and International Guests
It’s not just for adults—kids enjoy shows like Jakab Kalap (Kalap Jakab), puppet theater, and lively parades. There are open-air world music concerts featuring artists from Mexico, France, Italy, Estonia, Cyprus, Colombia, and Slovakia. Highlights include performances by the 100 Member Gypsy Orchestra and Besh o droM, as well as themed Panorama of Dance nights.
Grand Finale—and Surprises
The excitement continues with the Dance Panorama (Táncpanoráma), Golden Heart Gala (Aranyszívgála), and the raucous Summer Night Pucc Party. Everything wraps up on August 21 with “Fathers and Sons” by the Danube Art Ensemble (Duna Art Ensemble). Times and events may change, so stay tuned—the organizers promise to keep things exciting!
