Trumpet Maverick: Lőrinc Barabás Live
Thursday, November 27, 2025, 7:00 PM
Trumpeter-composer Lőrinc Barabás has been a driving force in Budapest’s improv scene for almost two decades. His rotating ensembles and club nights roam the borderlands of jazz, electronic, and neoclassical. The minimalist, melancholic tracks on his new solo record nod to the neoclassical sound of Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. A relentlessly active and prolific performer, he keeps mapping out fresh directions; since 2007 he’s released twelve albums with various bands and as a solo artist.
Recent years saw premieres of two works for symphony orchestra (Metamorphosis, 2019; Game, 2022), opening new horizons in contemporary classical music. He tours regularly across Europe and the United States and has shared stages with Erik Truffaz, Nicola Conte, Niklas Paschburg, and Valerie June. Festival highlights include Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), iTunes Festival (England), North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Noosa Jazz Festival (Australia), Hong Kong Jazz Festival, Ficamazonia Film Festival (Colombia), and Expo 2020 Dubai.

Expect Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money, SOS, Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Happy New Year, Thank You for the Music, The Winner Takes It All, Fernando, and plenty more. The ABBA ABBORN group has toured Europe for over 20 years and scored huge success, including 70 million viewers on French TV. Their strength? Authenticity that transports you straight back to the ’70s. Beyond the meticulously honed show, they dazzle with musicianship.
They’re proud to perform live without electronic backing—just bass and drums supporting the voices, which conjure a stunning spectrum of tones. Add original costumes and sharp choreography for an all-in ABBA immersion.
Wanderer – Szinvavölgyi Dance Theatre
Sunday, November 30, 2025, 5:00 PM
Featuring the groups of SZINVAVÖLGYI AMI, the Szinvavölgyi Palánták, Kishzinva, the Szinvavölgyi Folk Dance Workshop Youth and Adult ensembles, and the Tényleg Zenekar led by Sándor Orosz.
From the beginning, Szinvavölgyi has used Hungarian folk dance to speak to today—while honoring the pure sources and values of folk culture. The diversity of dance and music across regions—even village by village—feels like opening treasure chests.
The first act of the 2025 year-end program leans into that idea. And because dance can carry deep emotions, spark recognition, and revive memories, they’ll also let the storytelling take flight.
Vándor (Wanderer) is a new dance-theatre work, part spiritual journey from chaos toward belonging. The Wanderer arrives from outside, shows a way forward through lived experience, teaches acceptance and self-confrontation, unveils love’s deepest secrets, and the power within togetherness.
First act highlights: Overture; Slovak karikázó; “Isolated” set featuring Sajógalgóc csárdás (Eszter Rudolfné Matiscsák, Vince Rudolf), Hejőpapi Romani dance (Regina Balla, Gábor Vanyó), Dédestapolcsány women’s csárdás (Anikó Poprádi, Zoé Hadházi), Pozdič Slovak csárdás (Dorka Pethő, Ernő Matiscsák). Duet: Levente Maródi and Gábor Vanyó; Gömör dances; “Szerelem, szerelem” (Réka Toronyai, Levente Vanyó), music by Gyula Ács; songs from Bőd (Magyarbőd) about love; dances from Bőd (Magyarbőd) and Gagybátor; the Wanderer’s dance, music by Gyula Ács; closing with the Festival of Togetherness (Bodrogköz dances).
Starring The Wanderer: Levente Maródi. Choreographers: Anna Velner, Csaba Husvéth, Anita Lévai, Levente Maródi, Attila Maródi. With recorded narration by Ferenc Fandl (Miskolc National Theatre). Lighting: Bálint Reich. Costumes: Anita Katalin Pálfi. Poster: Vince Rudolf.
Second act, gala: Nagydobrony and Visk dances (Kisszinva); “With My Handkerchief into the Dance” – Marossárpatak dances (Ifjú Szinva); Mezőkölpény dances (Szötyke); Bököny dances (Palánták); Nyárádmagyarós dances (Kisszinva); Mezőszopor dances (Adult Ensemble); Bukovina dances (Kisszinva and Palánták); Christmas song, Advent. Choreographers: Anna Velner, Csaba Husvéth, Anita Lévai, Barnabás Bordás, Levente Maródi, Attila Maródi. Maintainer: Bükkalja Dance Theatre Foundation. Szinvavölgyi AMI director: Sándor Orosz. An Attic, Four Spirits, and 1988
Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 7:00 PM
One night in 1988, in a city attic in the last years of communism: Rádiós, a cyberneticist turned freelancer after being fired in 1986 for trying to contact alien worlds without permission, lives here. Four spirits drift in: Kölyök (the first who dared say the king is naked), Herceg (a Lombard prince who lost a bet about waking Sleeping Beauty), Lámpás (the eighth dwarf forgotten after Snow White appeared), and Meglökő (a kind executioner who tried to save Kölyök—both perished). They’re stuck on Earth by accident and are seeking Ferryman (Révész) to ferry them to the planet of eternal beauty.
Enter Barrabás, a gangster bomb expert mistaken by the spirits for the Ferryman; Mamóka pops in with plum dumplings; and Süni, the neighbor studying at the Liszt Academy of Music (Zeneakadémia), charms everyone—and has long had a crush up in that attic.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas – a one-act children’s play
Sunday, December 14, 2025, 11:00 AM
Cast: Grinch – Krisztián Bánidi; Uncle Brikettbaum – András Fogarassy; Ikk-Mikk-Fikk – Dorina Pintér; Ikk-Mikk-Fikk’s mother – Andrea Dóka; Vendor/City dweller – Gergő Fogarassy; Max the dog – Szonja Sári.
The Grinch, a cynical, cranky green fuzzball, sets out to steal Christmas but is disarmed by a little girl’s honest holiday cheer. It’s funny, warm, and all about the essence of Christmas and unbreakable optimism. Living alone in a cave on Mount Kobak with his loyal dog Max, the Grinch only goes to Whoville when supplies run low. The Whos get louder every year, and when they announce this Christmas will be three times bigger, he decides there’s only one way to secure peace: steal it. He disguises himself as Santa and even traps a whiny reindeer to pull his sleigh.
Meanwhile, down in Whoville, Cindy-Lou Who—overflowing with cheer—plans with friends to catch Santa to thank him for helping her overworked mom. As Christmas nears, her good intentions are on a collision course with the Grinch’s scheming.
