On April 21, the stage of the Permanent Palace (Palazzo Permanens) will be taken over by Scottish trombonist-producer corto.alto, a.k.a. Liam Shortall, as the headliner of the latest JAZZx night. He calls his music future jazz: a high-energy blend where jazz meets electronics, hip-hop, and soul, with every beat aiming to surprise.
Live Quartet, A Stack of Effects
Shortall isn’t a lone lab worker: live, he arrives with a four-piece band and isn’t shy about stacking pedals, effects, and loops. The result is a colorful, dynamic sound that’s both club-ready and concert-hall bold—improvisational yet tight. The instrumentation passes seamlessly from hand to hand: brass converses with electronic textures, while hip-hop-driven rhythms pull you right into the center.
Guests: Mom Tudie and Sitmob
The night doesn’t stop with the headliner. Guest artist Mom Tudie will keep the arc of the evening flowing with a refined, groove-oriented sound. Sitmob will also take the stage—the duo of Aaron Tálas (Tálas Áron) and Ádám Klausz (Klausz Ádám)—stoking the energy with precision playing and creative rhythmic twists. For one night, the Permanent Palace (Palazzo Permanens) transforms into a jazz club pulled into the future.
