Füzér is rolling out a full slate of castle days, heritage re-enactments, and food-centric programs in 2025. The beautifully rebuilt, living Castle of Füzér stays open year-round, inviting visitors to step into a conjured past with hands-on history, local flavors, and panoramic walks in the Zemplén Mountains. Come for the rituals and re-enactors, stay for the wine and hiking routes under the basalt cliffs—this hilltop icon delivers atmosphere in spades.

November 7: Reformation Remembrance Service

Marking the Reformation remembrance, a festive service will be held at the Castle Chapel in Füzér. The chapel, rebuilt in honor of the Virgin Mary and ecumenically blessed in 2020 by local historic churches, was then declared fit for regular church and liturgical use. Since that moment, services, masses, weddings, and baptisms have returned to the chapel under ecclesiastical blessing, open to locals from Füzér and Hegyköz as well as curious travelers. This year’s celebration nods to that milestone with a solemn service in the same spirit of shared tradition and reverence.

November 8: St. Martin’s Day Bring-a-Basket Ball

The St. Martin’s Day batyus bál lands at the Szathmáry László Cultural House in Füzér on November 8. Tickets: 5,000 HUF (about 13.80 USD). Please confirm attendance by phone. Expect a community night full of music, dancing, and the time-honored custom of bringing your own basket of goodies. It’s the kind of small-town, high-energy evening that pairs perfectly with crisp air and castle silhouettes after dark.

Stay at the Foot of the Castle

Unwind beneath the picturesque Füzér Castle in a quiet cul-de-sac at a newly built, detached guesthouse designed for flexibility and comfort. Sleeping up to eight, it offers two double rooms and two triple rooms, plus two bathrooms. Indoors, there’s a shared dining and kitchen area; outdoors, a covered terrace and a large fenced yard with garden furniture set the stage for cauldron cooking and bacon-grilling over an open fire. Parking in the yard is unlimited. It’s a great starting point for Zemplén hikes, whether you’re chasing autumn colors or a snowy ridge view.

Tokaj in Your Glass: Tradition Meets Innovation

Tokaj-Oremus has been bottling the essence of Tokaj-Hegyalja for more than 30 years, winning fans in 140 countries. Here, tradition and innovation move in sync: wines follow old recipes fine-tuned for modern tastes. Expect bistro-style dishes using seasonal, local ingredients; a standout lineup of Tokaj wines; business tastings; tailored wine flights with bites; good coffee; homemade soft drinks; and craft beers. The cellar in Erdőbénye—right in the heart of Tokaj country, with Zemplén peaks close by—is a working space where grape becomes wine, respecting heritage. Aszú ages in new Gönc barrels; bottles also rest here. Because the team is often in the vines or among barrels, please book ahead to visit. There’s also a cozy wine bar in Telkibánya.

Cellars, Mold, and Oak: The Tokaj DNA

Across the region, wineries still pass down their craft from generation to generation. The signature Tokaj character owes much to the cellar environment, the noble cellar mold on the walls, and long-prized oak barrels. Expect multiple vintages across sweet, semi-sweet, and dry specialties.

Béres: Youthful Energy, Serious Wines

Béres Szőlőbirtok brings fresh momentum to Tokaj-Hegyalja, driven by the Béres family’s push for top-tier quality that elevates Tokaj’s global reputation. Thanks to great soils, microclimate, yield control, and gentle processing, their first 2003 vintage already turned heads—and the streak continues at home and abroad. Their promise, “Every drop is Béres,” signals quality, reliability, and persistence in the glass.

Bodnár Winery (Bodnár Pincészet): Craft and Capacity

Founded by horticultural engineer Dr. Sándor Bodnár and run with winemaker son-in-law József Repei, Bodnár Winery blends stellar fruit, careful processing, century-old craft, and modern tech. Tastings welcome up to 30 guests by prior booking; they also host corporate events. Catch their Tokaj Wine & Gastro Terrace at Zemplén Adventure Park from late April to early October.

Czemiczki: First-Class Slopes

The Czemiczki family cultivates vines in the historically first-class Rány, Csető, and Serédi vineyards around Tolcsva. Their wines fuse Tokaj-Hegyalja tradition with the latest technologies. Visit for a tasting or check out their events—and yes, you can order online for delivery to your door.
