Looking for fun, learning, and a little Halloween magic in October and November? The American Corner at the Eötvös Károly Library on Komakút Square (Komakút tér) invites everyone to join their lively mix of year-round and seasonal events. Regular programs like the weekly English Conversation Club, hands-on crafts and tech workshops, kids’ clubs, skill-building workshops, and movie nights keep things buzzing. There’s also information on studying in the US—so curious minds of all ages are always welcome!
Kids’ Corner: Little Monsters Welcome
On October 25, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, kids can jump into Halloween fun with English language activities. The Kids’ Corner brings stories, games, and giggles—plus prizes for those who dare to show up in a scary costume. It’s a playful, pressure-free place for kids to pick up new words while they play.
Spelling Bee Showdown
Love a good challenge? Older kids and teens can show off their spelling skills in the Spelling Bee on November 25 at 2:00 PM. Three rounds, three point tiers, and two lifelines per student—though using them costs a point! Make a mistake and someone else can snag the points. The sharpest speller goes home with bragging rights.
Halloween Bash: Monsters, Bingo & More
On October 28, Halloween gets real with a monster-themed party from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Fulbright guest Kyla Jernigan leads a hair-raising monster presentation and helps guests design their own creatures. There will be word games, bingo, and snacks—just bring something spooky, sweet or savory.
Surprise Movie Afternoon
November 5 at 3:00 PM: Wind down with an American classic film. Popcorn and drinks are provided, but more snacks are always welcome. All events are free; just register by email or on social media.
