March 15: Minerals Trail – Csobánka Spring Adventure Day
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, join our easy, family-friendly hike in Csobánka, where everyone becomes a mineral hunter. Hunt UV-active barite at the site, including showstopper crystal clusters up to 8-12 inches across—kids love these! The spot is a breezy 30-minute walk from the meetup point. From there, it’s 1 km on foot to the upper parking lot, or you can drive up if possible. Everyone finds minerals and takes home as many as they want. (Back to 2014 vibes in Csobánka!)
March 27-29: Birch Sap Tapping in Mátraszentimre with Crafts, Food, and Market
From March 27 to 29, 2026, dive into the Nyitott Kapuk (Open Gates) events in Mátraszentimre for viricselés—that’s birch sap tapping. It’s only possible in spring when the sap flows. Packed with nutrients, minerals, trace elements, and vitamins, it cleanses your lymphatic system, detoxes, reduces inflammation, boosts immunity, and alkalizes your body. Externally, it nourishes and hydrates the skin, and stops scalp oiliness and dandruff. It takes patience, though—draining 5 liters (169 oz) can take 3 days. So we’ve filled the town with crafts, gastronomic fun, and a market to keep you buzzing in the Mátra for the whole weekend.
March 29: Rock Crystal Chase in Upper Mátra
Visit three spots in Upper Mátra, snagging rock crystals right on the surface—no digging needed, so everyone can collect more than just a few pieces. Local ones average 0.2-0.8 inches, but 1.2-1.6-inchers pop up too. Pack a backpack—you’ll find clusters on bedrock that require more than a box! Bring a mason’s hammer to shift leaves or chip excess rock. Take home whatever you gather.
More trips in March 2026 and from March 13 to November 15, 2026. Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs!
