Step into football history on a guided tour of the brand-new Nándor Hidegkuti Stadium (Hidegkuti Nándor Stadion), the proud home of MTK Budapest, one of Hungary’s oldest football clubs. Located in central Budapest at 2 Alfréd Brüll Street (Brüll Alfréd utca), the stadium stands on the original site where MTK has always played, carrying on the legacy of its predecessor, which hosted epic matches for over a century. Now, tradition meets innovation as the new stadium blends classic heritage with futuristic technology.
A Glimpse Behind Closed Doors
Tours run every Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and guests are encouraged to set aside at least 1.5 hours—guided visits last about 60 minutes. The experience promises an insider’s look at the players’ changing rooms, the electrifying walk through the tunnel toward the pitch, and panoramic views of the empty arena. Visitors will explore exclusive club zones, including staff-only areas, the plush VIP sector, sky boxes, and the conference room, reliving some of the greatest sporting and cultural moments in Hidegkuti Stadium’s history.
Club Heritage and Modern Marvels
MTK Budapest, known as “the Blue and Whites,” has claimed 23 Hungarian league titles and 12 Hungarian Cups, boasting a legacy second only to one other club in Hungary. The stadium itself can seat 5,322 fans and is named after the legendary Nándor Hidegkuti—a famed striker for MTK as well as a star of Hungary’s legendary Golden Team. He wore the iconic number 9, helping Hungary win an Olympic silver medal and reach the final of the 1954 FIFA World Cup, and was part of the team that defeated England at Wembley in the “Match of the Century.”
The stadium opened with a spectacular match against Sporting Clube de Portugal in October 2016, recalling their historic UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final encounter from 1964. The pitch features state-of-the-art Desso GrassMaster hybrid turf, the first of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe—on par with global icons like Anfield and Old Trafford.
High-Tech Features and VIP Spots
The arena’s lighting sets a new standard, boasting 214 individual Schreder–Tungsram LED fixtures. Alongside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, this was the first venue in the world to feature both hybrid turf and full-LED technology. The two main stands have 33 exclusive boxes across two levels, each accommodating about 10–12 people for the ultimate match-day or business experience.
