when: 2026.01.17., Saturday
where: 2131 Göd, Feneketlen-tó

2026.01.17., Bottomless Lake (Feneketlen-tó), 2131 — The 3rd Gödi Kolbásztusa fires up on January 17, turning the lakeside into a full-on sausage-stuffing and grilling battleground. Teams go head-to-head not just with their links, but also enter their “fogópálinka” (catch-a-shot fruit brandy) and savory baked goods for a professional jury to judge. Entry to all programs is free, and anyone can taste the results with a small tasting ticket.

100 Servings, One Mission

Each team must stuff and fry enough sausage to plate 100 servings, putting speed, technique, and spice blends in the spotlight. Once the grills cool, visitors can sample the goods after picking up tasting tickets, turning the competition into a community feast by the water.

Pálinka and Savory Bakes in the Ring

Beyond the main sausage contest, bragging rights are on the line for the best fogópálinka and the most addictive savory pastries, all judged by pros. Organizers reserve the right to change the date and program.

2025, adrienne

Pros
+
Free entry and cheap tasting tickets make it super budget-friendly for a fun foodie day
+
Family vibe by a lakeside park setting—easy strolling, fresh air, and lots to watch while the grills sizzle
+
Live sausage-stuffing showdown is a quirky, hands-on cultural slice you won’t see every day
+
Chance to try pálinka and Hungarian savory bakes alongside the sausages = broad local flavors in one spot
+
January timing means fewer tourists and a cozy, community feel
+
Göd is near Budapest, so it’s an easy add-on to a capital stay
+
Competes well with European food fests—think smaller than Germany’s sausage fairs but more intimate and interactive - International name recognition is low—both the event and Göd aren’t widely known to U.S. visitors
Cons
Hungarian helps with menus and banter; you can get by in English, but signs/judging details may be mostly Hungarian
Winter weather by the lake can be cold and damp; not ideal for very young kids or long stays outdoors
Public transit is decent (suburban train/HEV + walk), but driving/parking could be tighter on event day compared to big-city venues
