when: 2026. March 8., Sunday

Gödöllő’s Royal Palace rolls out a packed 2026, blending chamber music, family days, hands-on art, and open-air summer vibes in one of Hungary’s grandest Baroque landmarks. Stroll the stately halls, then dive into concerts, creative workshops, storytelling suites, and baby-friendly tours—all in an imposing, photogenic setting.

Hands-on art, history, and family fun

March lights up with the Alkoss Velünk! (Create with Us) series: March 10 features The Treasures of the Middle Ages plus a surprise painting; March 17 explores Landscapes and Still Lifes with sun printmaking; March 24 channels József Rippl-Rónai with a paint-along, Rippl-style; March 31 turns to Love Stories with watercolor. Families can book the interactive Mesélő lakosztályok (Storytelling Suites) museum-ed sessions on March 14, April 10–11, May 9, and June 6. Baby in arms? “Mama, look!” baby-guided tours run March 16 and 30, April 13, May 11, and June 8. On March 14, Huszáros Family Day salutes hussar heritage.

Concerts that fill the palace

March 14 brings a free recital: Romantic Piano Trios with András Keller, Miklós Perényi, and Mihály Berecz. April 12 features Klára Csordás with the Budapest Saxophone Quartet; May 17 pairs Klára Csordás with the Quartetto Speranza String Quartet. On May 3, Zoltán Miller’s Mother’s Day concert takes the stage.

Spring traditions and summer stage

Kastélylurkók Klubja (Palace Kids’ Club) hosts Easter at the Palace on April 3; returns May 9 to explore rare birds and plants in the palace park; and crowns June 6 with Royal Coronations.

The big summer set pieces

June 5 premieres the crowd-pleasing Made in Hungária grand musical. Day camps keep kids busy: Elemér and Friends, June 29–July 3; and Castle Adventure Camp, July 20–24.

Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.

Pros
+
Super family-friendly: baby-guided tours, kids’ clubs, hands-on art days, and day camps mean everyone—from toddlers to teens—has something to do
+
Mix of concerts, workshops, and history in a stunning Baroque palace makes it feel like multiple attractions in one stop
+
Many events are date-specific, so you can plan a short, high-impact visit around concerts or themed days
+
The palace itself is photogenic and historic, so even non-event days feel special
+
Gödöllő is close to Budapest, so it’s an easy half-day or day trip with frequent suburban trains (HÉV) or a quick drive
+
Some events are free or low-cost compared with similar European palace programming
+
Unique local touches (hussar heritage, Rippl-Rónai art focus, Made in Hungária musical) give you a real slice of Hungarian culture
Cons
The programming and signage skew Hungarian, so non-speakers may miss nuances in storytelling sessions or workshops
Outside Hungary, Gödöllő is less famous than Versailles or Schönbrunn, so it might take extra research to prioritize
Event dates are clustered (mostly March–June), so off-season visitors get fewer options and schedules can change
Concerts and popular family days may sell out or get crowded, and on-site wayfinding can feel confusing without Hungarian cues
