Budapest will host a special Gregorian Mass on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, led by the Schola Gregoriana Budapestiensis at the Franciscan Church at 9 Ferenciek Square (Ferenciek tere), starting at 18:30. Formed in 1994 following the creation of the Gregorian Society (Gregorián Társaság), the ensemble was founded to teach, promote, and restore Gregorian chant in the liturgy—and to bring those aims to life in practice across the city’s sacred spaces.
Program and Ordinary
The liturgy features a full chant lineup: Introit Dominus illuminatio (GrNov I, 261), Gradual Iacta cogitatum (GrNov I, 257), Alleluia Deus, qui sedes (GrNov I, 266), Offertory Illumina (GrNov I, 266), and Communion Dominus firmamentum (GrNov I, 266). The Ordinary is the Fifth Gregorian Mass, including the Kyrie, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei.
