
Gyenesdiás, nestled on the shores of Lake Balaton, is rolling out a packed 2026 with culture, food, sport, and lakeside nights across multiple venues in the 8315 area. The calendar ranges from intimate talks and book launches to beach parties, jetboard days, craft fairs, dog shows, and candlelit Advent Sundays—something for every mood and season.
Spring starts strong
May opens with The Seven Secrets of Happiness (A boldogság hét titka), a talk by mental health expert and success specialist Enikő Zoltánné Fülöp in the Pásztorház courtyard (May 11). Judit Schell brings My Companion, Shirley MacLaine (Útitársam, Shirley Maclaine), a musical solo evening (May 14). The Town Hall (Községháza) hosts the Mondd”dal Meeting (Mondd”dal Találkozó) (May 15), plus the launch of Attila Zoltán Szabó’s Glass Shards (Üvegszilánkok) (May 16). A German Hobby Artists at Lake Balaton exhibition premieres (May 22). Pentecost arrives with an Herb Day and King Selection at the Diás Watermill (Vízimalom) (May 24).
Paddles, maypoles, and remembrance
The Kajaksziget crew leads a Summer Kickoff Paddle (May 30), while Kárpáti Promenade (Kárpáti Korzó) and the Producers’ Market host a Maypole Farewell Dance and Children’s Day bash the same day. National Cohesion Day and Trianon Remembrance gather at the Garden of Heroes (June 4). Art Courtyard (Art Udvar) begins its courtyard series at Pásztorház (June 10, 17, 24; July 1). Jetboard Days sweep in June 13–14.
High summer by the water
Dream Beach Cocktail Bar at Diás Play Beach (Diási Játékstrand) kicks off the season with a Welcome Summer Party (June 20). GYÖNGY—Gyenesdiás Volunteer Healing Days—lands at Nagymező (June 26–28). St. John’s Night (Szent Iván-éj) sparks magic at Gyenes Lido Beach (Gyenesi Lidóstrand) (June 27). A Summer Movie Night screens How Could I Live Without You? (Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled?) on July 4, as the Keszeg Festival runs July 4–5 and Wine Days pour July 9–12. Kajaksziget hosts a Sunset Tour (July 11). ZÓRA performs Between Heaven and Earth (Ég és Föld között) at Nagymező (July 18). Night at Diás Play Beach returns July 25, alongside the MASTAFF Summer Fest dog show at Kárpáti Promenade (July 25–26). A thematic exhibition opens on the 200-year-old St. Helena Chapel (Szent Ilona-kápolna) (July 31).
Festivals into fall
Altér Fest and Woodcarving Days run August 6–9. Another Kajaksziget Sunset Tour arrives August 8. St. Stephen’s Day (August 20) and a Beach Sundown Party (August 21) frame late summer before the 17th Festetics Gallop—regional qualifier of the National Gallop—thunders in on August 23. A Farewell-to-Summer Beetle Meeting cruises August 27–30. The 4th International Creative Camp and Exhibition fills the Town Hall (Községháza) August 31–September 6.
Harvest, hikes, and heritage
Gyenesdiás Harvest Merrymaking (September 5) precedes a Festetics Imre Experience Center family day with the Wonder Deer (Csodaszarvas) theme (September 13). The 15th Potato Day digs in on September 19, and the Kajaksziget team leads an Indian Summer Hike on September 26.
Conversations, memory, and lights
October brings an all-arts youth festival and workshops, Joys and Relationships, at the Town Hall (Községháza) (October 2–3), remembrance of the Martyrs of Arad at the Garden of Heroes (October 6), a relaxed interactive chat with Péter Müller Sziámi (October 9), and a festive commemoration at Kárpáti János Primary School and Basic Arts Institution (Kárpáti János ÁAMI) and the Garden of Heroes (October 22).
Advent warms the winter
A St. Martin’s Day Culture Night lights up Kárpáti János Primary School and Basic Arts Institution (Kárpáti János ÁAMI) (November 7). Advent candle lightings follow November 28 and December 5, 12, and 19, while Advent at the Animal Park charms the Festetics Imre Experience Center (November 29). A community Santa celebration arrives at the Town Hall (Községháza) (December 4), a baby photo exhibition for Gyenesdiás’s 2026 newborns opens December 10, and roasted chestnuts with a Christmas Market fill December 12–13. The year closes with a Shepherds’ Play at the Town Hall (Községháza) on December 24.
