January: Film, Icons, Culture
Jan 14: Ujj Mészáros Károly Film Club screens Bugonia. Jan 19: music teacher and conductor Tamás Kiss explores iconic pop-rock legends of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s with a visual talk at the Community Hall (Községháza). Jan 21: political scientist Alex Kovács presents a photo-rich journey, “From the Favela to the Andes,” on Peru, also at the Community Hall (Községháza). Jan 22 marks the Day of Hungarian Culture. Jan 30: book launch by Dr. Zoltán Burucs, “In the Footsteps of Saint Stephen and the Holy Crown” (Községháza). Jan 31: The Crown Witness screens, followed by a behind-the-scenes talk on its hero and actor Péter Kálloy-Molnár with Zoltán Attila Szabó (Községháza).
February: Carnival and Conversations
Feb 7: Farsang Dance House at Kárpáti János ÁAMI. Feb 9: Andrea Papp and Veronika Fekete on Northern Norway (Községháza). Feb 20: “Traccsparti” chat with Móni Balsai, plus a Shrove Tuesday Donut Party at Községháza.
March: Commemorations and Music
Mar 6: Women’s Day greeting and program (Községháza). Mar 13: ceremonial commemoration at Kárpáti János ÁAMI and Heroes’ Garden (Hősök Kertje). Mar 16: “Revolution in Music,” a visual lecture by Tamás Kiss (Községháza). Mar 20: Oscar-winning music with Chanson Brass (Községháza). Mar 21: “Dance with the Universe” — HolddalaNap concert (New Cultural Center — Új Művelődési Ház), plus New Testament Marathon Mar 21–22 (Községháza). Mar 28: Easter preparations at the Községháza and in the Pásztorház yard.
Spring to Summer Highlights
