Gyomaendrőd rolls out a full calendar in 2026, blending festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and community meetups across multiple venues. From spring’s cultural deep dives to summer nights by the Körös and winter’s festive markets, every age group will find a reason to show up—and stay awhile.

Spring kicks off with science, verse, and cheese

April 25 starts bold with the 23rd Gyomaendrőd Scientific Conference, Tavaszkultusz, exploring spring as a symbol and phenomenon in culture at the St. Anthony Folk House (Szent Antal Népház). A day later, on April 26, the Budapest-based Strófa Trio brings a verse-concert titled How Much Is a Thought Worth? to the OMart Bookstore and Cultural Workshop.
From April 30 to May 2, Liberty Square (Szabadság tér) hosts the 27th International Cheese and Curd Festival, a beloved staple that draws gourmands and curious tasters alike. On May 6, the Határ Győző City Library (Városi Könyvtár) opens its SZÖVEGELŐ diorama exhibition, followed by a nationwide livestock and fair day on May 10.
On May 11, acclaimed actress Barbara Hegyi takes the stage with Stories From My Kitchen, or Barbara, Stand Up!—a witty, tender solo journey through family memories, shared tables, cooking, and celebrations, rooted in tales from her Park Publishing cookbooks.

Literary trails, kids’ day, and vintage swing

May 16 offers In the Footsteps of Ferenc Móra with literary historian Dr. Tamás Bíró-Balogh at OMart. On May 23, the Besenyszeg Playground transforms for the city’s 48th Cibere Children’s Day. May 28 sparkles with Kamilka & Pesti Sikk, reviving Hollywood’s golden musical film era and Hungary’s chic swing age, led by lyricist-singer Kamilka Kiss and two-time Fonogram-winning composer-pianist Ádám Lőrincz.
May 30 launches OMart Musical Summer 1 with The 25-Year-Old Vox Humana Mixed Choir from Dévaványa in concert, followed by Heroes’ Day at Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere) on May 31.

June stirs the pot and jumps the fire

June 4 marks the Day of National Unity at the national flag on Liberty Square (Szabadság tér). Two days later, June 6 serves up the 22nd Day of the Cauldron in the open area beside the Rózsahegyi House. St. Anthony Day (Szent Antal) returns June 13 at the St. Anthony Bakery House, paired that evening with OMart Musical Summer 2 featuring the band Natural Intelligence. A nationwide livestock and fair day returns June 14.
June 23 brings a children’s program to the City Library, followed on June 25 by a baby program at the same venue. June 27 is stacked: an exhibition opening of paintings by Lillis Boros and Netti Boros at OMart; St. John’s Night fire-jumping at the Csicsergő canoe stop and fishing lodge; and OMart Musical Summer 3—III. Elisabeth Concert by the Gyomaendrőd Music Friends Chamber Choir. June 29 observes the Day of Remembrance for the Persecution of Kulaks at Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere).

Riverside evenings and summer soundtracks

Körösparti Evenings light up Elisabeth Grove (Erzsébet liget) on July 4, 11, and 18. On July 11, OMart Musical Summer 4 swoons with We Fly in the Spring of Our Hearts by Zoltán Kiszely and Nicolette Merényi. A nationwide livestock fair returns July 12. July 25 turns to tango with OMart Musical Summer 5—Summer, Tango, Love—featuring violinist Kende Paraizs at OMart.
From July 31 to August 3, the 30th Gyomaendrőd Volkswagen Beetle and Bus Party settles into the Liget Spa and Camping, a cult favorite for vintage lovers.

Wishes under shooting stars and national flavors

August 7 hosts the 11th Night of Shooting Stars—on the meadow and on the water. The free program pairs meteor watching in the field with an outdoor film screening and a telescope for sky-gazing, while a paid stargazing night boat trip lets you admire the heavens from the Hármas-Körös River. The buffet stays open through the evening.
Livestock and fair day returns August 9. On August 15, OMart Musical Summer 6—An Evening at the Spinning Room—introduces the Vésztő Women’s Citera Ensemble. August 20 celebrates King Saint Stephen and the Feast of the New Bread in Elisabeth Grove (Erzsébet liget), followed on August 21 by the 28th International Fish Cooking Competition at the same venue. On August 22, spiritual teacher László Ambrusz lectures on The Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Causes of Our Illnesses at OMart. August 28 commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács.

Plum jam, artists’ camp, and folklore

September 5 stirs tradition at the St. Anthony Folk House (Szent Antal Népház) with the 10th Plum Jam Cooking Day. The library hosts a late-summer musical Estike on September 8. On September 12, OMart opens an exhibition of Rózsa Bella’s etchings and continues with the 10th Neighborly Meetup: The Late Descendant Sees Nothing…, where Dr. Béla Kovács unpacks Endrőd’s history. A nationwide fair returns September 13. The 19th László Holló Artists’ Camp runs September 21–26 at the St. Anthony Folk House, closing September 26 with OMart Musical Summer 7, featuring the tradition-keepers of the Regélő Fehér Táltos drum ensemble.

Stories, remembrance, and autumn crafts

Folk Tale Day arrives October 5 at the City Library, followed on October 6 by the Day of Remembrance for the Martyrs of Arad at the Ferenc Kállai Integrated Cultural Institution and Community House. On October 10, OMart welcomes children’s author Zsuzsanna Garay with The Little Girl and the Scarecrow, tied to the Folk Tale celebration. A nationwide fair returns October 11. October 17 hosts the Autumn Exhibition and Pumpkin-Carving Family Day at the Béla Vidovszky City Gallery.
On October 20, back by popular demand, From Machete to Smartphone revisits the Ghana travelogue at OMart. The National Holiday—October 23—will be marked at the Ferenc Kállai institution, and the Confucius Institute Conference convenes October 24 at the St. Anthony Folk House (Szent Antal Népház).

Advent warmth and winter finales

A nationwide livestock and fair day returns November 8. On November 13, OMart’s 4th History Class asks Chance for Freedom? with Albert Molnár on 1956. The City Library hosts Getting Ready—Advent Fair on November 20, while November 21 brings the 17th Gyomaendrőd Pig Feast and János Tímár Butcher’s Pálinka Memorial Competition to the Lajos Varga Sports Hall. The library’s Advent Tuning follows on November 24. On November 28, OMart opens an exhibition of works from the children’s drawing competition.
December 12 caps the music calendar with Pictures at an Exhibition—Mihály Demeniv, Concorde Talent Prize-winning accordionist, and friends, at OMart. A final nationwide livestock and fair day lands December 13.
