
Advent comes to Gyomaendrőd from November 21 to December 21, turning Szabadság Square (Szabadság tér) and city venues into a festive hub. It kicks off on November 21 with the “This Is How We Prepare” craft fair at the Győző Határ City Library (Határ Győző Városi Könyvtár), 1–5 p.m. Call for details.
Opening and Reflections
On November 30 at 4 p.m., Mayor Balázs Toldi gives the welcome, followed by Advent reflections from Lutheran pastor Glória Seben and a program by the German Nationality Self-Government.
Santa, Soup, and Folk Magic
December 7 starts with a 12–1 p.m. love feast, serving goulash soup and bread to those in need. From 2–4 p.m., the Santa tent opens, while the Körösmenti Folk Dance Ensemble brings winter customs to life. At 4 p.m., Catholic priest Gábor Czank shares Advent reflections.
Music, Market, Marathon
On December 14 at 4 p.m., the Living Hope group from the Gyomaendrőd Baptist Church offers a musical devotion. December 21 packs a punch: a 10 a.m.–6 p.m. craft market with chimney cake (kürtőskalács) and Laci’s kitchen, an Advent run, a 10 a.m.–2 p.m. kids’ workshop (gingerbread, pottery, ornaments), a Frozen-themed interactive show at 11 a.m., Christmas Angels with Adrienn Várnai and Adél Mészáros at 3 p.m., and Reformed pastor Tibor Papp at 4 p.m. Organizers reserve the right to change schedules.
