Meet-and-greet, stress-free holidays, and film classics

Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m., OMart Bookshop and Cultural Workshop hosts a community meet-up with Judit Endrei. The next evening, November 24 at 5 p.m., Határ Győző City Library presents XMAS Rehab, a frank look at why there’s no Christmas without stress. On November 27, the Kállai 100 Memorial Year continues at the Kállai Ferenc Integrated Cultural Institution and Community Center with a screening of The Witness (A tanú).

Latin nights that actually start at the beginner level

If you’ve been flirting with salsa and bachata, the city’s beginner-friendly classes promise a win from your first hour, set to today’s hits and big bangers. Sessions run November 25, December 2, December 9, and December 16. Ladies are encouraged to arrive with partners.

Advent opens with ceremony and song

Advent in Gyomaendrőd launches November 30 at 4 p.m. with greetings from Mayor Balázs Toldi, reflections by Lutheran pastor Glória Seben, and a performance by the German Minority Self-Government. On the second Sunday of Advent, December 7, there’s a noon–1 p.m. love feast for those in need (a plate of goulash soup and bread), a 2–4 p.m. Santa tent, winter folk traditions with the Körösmenti Folk Dance Ensemble, and 4 p.m. reflections by parish priest Gábor Czank.

Music, talks, market, and a full family day

December 6 features a concert by guitar virtuoso József Eötvös. On December 13 at 4 p.m., OMart hosts the 3rd History Lesson with István Tamás Molnár. December 14 delivers a combined day: the city’s animal and flea market, plus Advent at 4 p.m. with a musical devotion by the Living Hope Gyomaendrőd Baptist Congregation.

Choirs, crafts, and running into Christmas

On December 20, the Christmas Choral Concert invites all music lovers, featuring the Gyomaendrőd Friends of Music Chamber Choir (conductor: Nóra Gecseiné Sárhegyi), the Sono Felici Vocal Ensemble (conductor: Erzsébet Fekécsné Beregszászi), and Tamás Jakus on organ. On December 21, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., the Advent fair serves handmade treasures, chimney cake, and Laci’s kitchen, plus a holiday running race. Families get a 10 a.m.–2 p.m. workshop (gingerbread making, pottery wheel, tree ornaments), an 11 a.m. Frozen musical interactive kids’ show, 3 p.m. Christmas Angels with Adrienn Várnai and Adél Mészáros, and 4 p.m. reflections from Reformed pastor Tibor Papp.

Spring finale: cheese, curd, and crowds

Save the dates: April 30–May 2, 2026, brings the 27th Gyomaendrőd International Cheese and Curd Festival to Szabadság Square. Come hungry.
