Halloween kicks off a packed season in Gyomaendrőd with exhibitions, dance nights, literary talks, and hearty winter traditions rolling into Advent. From October 31 to November 2, Halloween at the Sirató runs daily from 10:00 to 20:00 with kid-friendly programs, leisure activities, and a full menu of hands-on fun: pumpkin carving, face painting, hair braiding, glitter tattoos, and a selfie corner. Every ticket includes a raffle stub. The buffet serves from 10:00 to 19:00 to keep the cobwebs at bay.

Dance Fever, Latin Edition

Salsa & Bachata dance courses arrive on November 4, 11, 18, 25, and December 2, 9, 16 in Gyomaendrőd, bringing that unmistakable Latin buzz. It’s easy to pick up, with wins even in the first class set to today’s hits and big favorites. Ladies are encouraged to come with a partner. Same time, same vibe, and back-to-back weeks of hip action for everyone itching to move.

Speaking, Mastered

On November 4, Júlia Kudlik presents A szólás mestersége (The Craft of Speaking). For decades she was practically family to Hungarian TV viewers as host of Delta, Song Festival (Táncdalfesztivál), Kodály Singing Competition (Kodály Énekverseny), The Peacock Has Landed (Fölszállott a páva), Julisuli, and more. After a string of books, VHS tapes, and CDs, this volume revisits her entire career from the very start to now, packed with stories, a trove of photos, and thoughts—both her own and treasures gathered from the classics—on what makes life beautiful and rich in values. She’ll be in conversation with editor Gábor Bencsik and, ideally, with the audience. Book sales and signings close the evening. All are warmly welcome.

Three Birthdays, One Stage

On November 8 at 16:00, OMart Bookshop and Cultural Workshop hosts a musical literary afternoon marking a triple jubilee with the TŰZMENEDÉK verse-singing band. The celebration nods to Attila József’s 120th, Tűzmenedék’s 20th, and Albert Molnár’s 70th, all honored through sung poetry.

Cartoons and Blocks, National Style

November 15 belongs to animation and building blocks. The 11th National Cartoon Festival (XI. Országos Rajzfilmünnep) sets up at the Kállai Ferenc Integrated Cultural Institution and Cultural House. The same day, the 3rd Gyomaendrőd Brick Adventures (III. Gyomaendrődi Kockakalandok) runs 10:00 to 18:00 with a brick exhibition and playhouse: memory games, coloring, photo wall, Ninjago spinners, brick-hunting, cosplay, and more. There’s a Rubik’s Cube–solving Lego robot and an “Apamegőrző” dad corner stocked with darts and a console station. Games come with prizes. Fun for the small builders and the big kids alike.

Tvrtko Goes Around the World

On November 19, journalist Vujity Tvrtko brings Tvrtko Around the World (TVRTKO a Föld körül) to Gyomaendrőd—an evening overflowing with adventures, optimism, motivation, and the power of the unbreakable. The globe-trotting reporter lays out an incredible life and stories meant to lift everyone up. It’s the worthy sequel to the Beyond All Limits (Túl minden határon) show, now arriving from every corner of the Earth. Venue: Kállai Ferenc Cultural Center. Tickets: USD 15.40.

Make, Meet, and Remember

November 21 brings This Is How We Prepare (Így készülünk mi)—an Advent crafts market at Határ Győző City Library. On November 22, meet legendary TV announcer Judit Endrei, then dive nose-first into the 16th Gyomaendrőd Pork Feast and János Tímár Butcher’s Brandy Memorial Competition (XVI. Gyomaendrődi Disznótoros és Tímár János Böllérpálinka Emlékverseny). Teams with heart and soul turn out the essential classics: roasted sausage, blood sausage, pork-and-cabbage stew, and the full spread of traditional dishes. The market features locally made sausage, cracklings, and smoked meats, while the food stalls tempt with onion blood sausage, cigánka sausage, and roast meats—rustic comfort for serious foodies.

Advent, Unwrapped

On November 24 at 17:00, Határ Győző City Library hosts XMAS Rehab, or No Christmas Without Stress. On November 27, the Kállai 100 Memorial Year continues with a screening of Witness Again (Megint tanú) at the Kállai Ferenc Integrated Cultural Institution and Cultural House.
On November 30, Advent in Gyomaendrőd (Advent Gyomaendrődön) opens: at 16:00, Mayor Balázs Toldi gives greetings, followed by Advent reflections from Lutheran pastor Gloria Seben and a program by the German Nationality Self-Government.

Music, Warmth, and Winter Magic

December 6 welcomes a concert by guitar virtuoso József Eötvös. The Advent program returns on December 7: 12:00–13:00, Advent charity hospitality offers a hot meal for those in need (one bowl of goulash soup with bread). 14:00–16:00, the Mikulás tent hosts Santa, while the Körösmenti Folk Dance Ensemble explores winter holiday folk customs. At 16:00, Advent reflections come from parish priest Gábor Czank.

History, Hope, and a Holiday Sprint

On December 13 at 16:00, OMart Bookshop and Cultural Workshop hosts the third history class with István Tamás Molnár. On December 14, the Gyomaendrőd Baptist Church’s Living Hope (Élő Remény) leads a musical devotion at 16:00.
December 21 runs all day for Advent in Gyomaendrőd (Advent Gyomaendrődön), 10:00–18:00: a craft market, kürtőskalács chimney cakes, and Laci’s kitchen; plus an Advent running race. From 10:00–14:00, the Christmas playhouse offers gingerbread making, pottery wheel sessions, and DIY tree ornaments. At 11:00, Frozen (Jégvarázs) lands as a musical, interactive children’s show. At 15:00, Christmas Angels—a musical set by Adrienn Várnai and Adél Mészáros—sets the mood, before 16:00 reflections from Reformed pastor Tibor Papp close the afternoon.
