Tikk-takk Bumm! (Tick, Tick… Boom!)
The next night, March 25 (Wednesday) at 7pm, dive into Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical Tikk-takk Bumm! (Tick, Tick… Boom!), first staged Off-Broadway in New York and later a global hit, including a multi-award-winning Netflix film in 2021. As composer Jon nears his 30th birthday, he grapples with big questions: Where’s his career at? Will he make it big? Is this really his path? He senses something big must happen by 30. Follow Jon, the struggling composer; his best friend Michael, who swapped acting dreams for a PR manager job; and girlfriend Susan, a pro dancer still awaiting her break. The show feels like an acoustic club stand-up by actor Ember Márk as Jon, blending personal stories of a sensitive artist’s doubts. Three actors play multiple roles in this live-music theater piece tackling Gen Y’s 30-something woes—no wars, no hunger, comfy upbringings, yet terror of real life, adulthood’s weight, future fears, and commitment. They muddle through with varying success.
