Gyula rolls out a year-long lineup of festivals, concerts, theater, candlelit tours, and food-and-drink adventures across its castle, spa, and museums. Gyula Castle and the Gyula Castle Theater anchor the spring-to-autumn highlights, while the beloved Castle Spa keeps bathers entertained. February warms up with culture first. Daily from February 24, Ladics House opens The Empress’s Cup (Császárné csészéje), a peek into bourgeois-era domestic elegance. Over at Almásy Palace, Corsets and Revolution (Fűző és forradalom) digs into fashion and upheaval. Beer fans get their fix with Sörházi beugró, a tour and tasting at Elixbeer Brewery, running on multiple dates from February 24 onward.
On February 25, Gyulakult stages Magda Szabó: Abigail (Szabó Magda: Abigél), tickets from $24.30 to $27.10. The Museum Free University series launches Herod, Jesus and the Holy City (Heródes, Jézus és a Szent Város) on February 25. February 27 brings a Downtown Stroll (Belvárosi barangoló) walking tour, plus The Masters of Illusion in Gyula (Az Illúzió Mesterei Gyulán) at Gyulakult. From February 27 to March 1, the castle offers Guaranteed Programs at Gyula Castle (Garantált programok a Gyulai Várban). February 28 glows: Candlelit Castle Tours (Gyertyafényes vártúrák), The Field of Doom – Mohács (A végzet mezeje – Mohács) at the castle, Aristocratic Passions – Treasures of Almásy Palace (Grófi passziók), and The Palace by Candlelight (A kastély gyertyafényben). March 1 debuts Palace Tour with Dönci the Dachshund (Kastélytúra Tacskó Döncivel), a family tour.
March brightens with film, humor, and gourmet nights. On March 4, the Castle Theater hosts Alzheimer’s – the Award-Winning Film (Az Alzheimer díjnyertes film) with a post-screening talk. March 5 brings Clauságok, Liptai Claudia’s solo show. The castle’s guaranteed programs return March 6–8. March 7 layers The Palace by Candlelight (A kastély gyertyafényben), a six-course Chef’s Dinner at La Sposa Caffè, the Pincetárlat cellar exhibition, Candlelit Castle Tours (Gyertyafényes vártúrák), and János Lackfi: Three Women, One Case (Lackfi János: Három nő, egy eset) at the theater, tickets $18.40.
March 11: La Sposa Caffè hosts Stage and Life (Színpad és élet) with Péter Scherer. March 13: Dumaszínház presents Péter Janklovics’s Obliged by the Paycheck – Life Is Different (A bér kötelez – Az élet máshogy van), tickets $22.30–$26.10. The castle programs run March 13–15, with more candlelit tours and a Women’s Salon (Női szalon) exhibition on March 14. Dachshund tours pop up March 8, 15, and again on March 22.
March 21 leans thematic: Dachshund Meet-Up 2026 (Tacskótalálkozó 2026) at the Almásy Palace Visitor Center, plus candlelit tours, the palace by candlelight, and Speaking Flowers (Beszédes virágok). March 25’s Museum Free University revisits March 15, 1848, and the theater presents Valeriu Butulescu: Bolyai for just $0.50. March 27–29 repeats the castle’s guaranteed programming. March 28 stacks candlelit tours, Aristocratic Passions (Grófi passziók), another Mohács event at the castle, The Palace by Candlelight (A kastély gyertyafényben), and a Ball at the Palace (Bál a Kastélyban) concert night with cellist Felicián Kalmus. Dönci’s tour returns March 29.
April 4 reopens the Pincetárlat. April 8 brings Dumaszínház: What Could Possibly Go Wrong? (Mi bajunk lehet?) with Fruzsina Ács and Balázs Máté Szabó, tickets $18.50–$20.30.
