where: 5700 Gyula, Almásy-kastély

The Gyula Almásy Castle Visitor Center launches its Museum Open University lecture series, a free monthly deep dive for fans of local history, archaeology, ethnography, and museology. Experts from the Ferenc Erkel Museum in Gyula will be joined by colleagues from the National Archives of Hungary, Békés County Archives, delivering illustrated talks in the castle’s ballroom. The goal: turn the most exciting objects in public collections and the hard-won knowledge about them into shared treasure.

When and where

Talks start at 5 p.m. on the last Wednesday of every month in the Almásy Castle ballroom, 5700 Gyula. Admission is free, and the setting—historic yet welcoming—makes it easy to drop in after work or while exploring town.

What’s on

The program on 2026-05-27, titled From the Corset to the Bob, promises a lively look at how fashion and identity evolved from tightly laced silhouettes to the modern bob cut. Expect archival images, local stories, and artifacts that bring the topic to life.

Organizers reserve the right to change the time and program.

2025, adrienne
