Gyula is lining up a packed 2026 program of theater, music, and literature across the Gyula Castle Theatre (Gyulai Várszínház) and the Ferenc Erkel Cultural Center (Erkel Ferenc Művelődési Központ), with indoor shows and open-air spectacles. All summer, the castle theater turns into a two-month, cross-genre festival serving every age and taste with high-quality performances and smart entertainment. Spring Starters

May warms up with Danny Blue: The Secret on 2026.05.19 in Gyula, following Liliom Produkció’s The Naked Truth at Béke Boulevard 35 on 2026.05.07. Expect mind games, bold humor, and a taste of what the season promises.

Early Summer Curtain-Raisers

June brings Mandala Musical Theatre (Mandala Dalszínház) with Hyppolit, the Butler—a musical comedy—on 2026.06.11, then Liliom Produkció returns with The Naked Truth on 2026.06.12. On 2026.06.28, Plato: The Apology of Socrates arrives as a one-act concert-theater piece, fusing philosophy and stagecraft.

Castle Theater Summer

From 2026.07.03, the Castle Theatre (Várszínház) unleashes premieres and classics: József Szigetvári’s Masterwork folk-dance theater (07.03), Katalin Thuróczy’s Argentine Tango (07.04), and The Wife Starts at Forty (07.11). The Zenta Hungarian Chamber Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (07.12) and Piaf–marche / Piaf–menet, a homage to Édith Piaf (07.16).

Comedy, Musicals, Premieres

Eisemann–Zágon–Nóti’s Hyppolit, the Butler arrives via the Bartók Chamber Theatre of Dunaújváros (07.17). János Lackfi’s Measurers, a staged reading, follows (07.18). Veres 1 Színház serves Group Therapy, a two-part “mjuzikelkámedi” (07.19), then Beautiful Summer Day—the Neoton musical in two parts (07.21). Pannon Castle Theatre (Pannon Várszínház) brings The Paul Street Boys, a musical play (07.22). And the Gyula Castle Theatre (Gyulai Várszínház) premieres Attila Bódi’s Twins – Two (07.22).
