The Gyula Summer Promenade Festival 2026 turns Gyula’s historic downtown into a nightly stage from June 29 to August 29, filling the season with free culture for locals and visitors alike. Bite, sip, linger
Between sets, the promenade and castle garden serve up classic Gyula flavors. The café at the Almásy Mansion Visitor Center opens 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily except Monday, with a museum shop next door. You don’t need a museum ticket—pop in for specialty coffees and cakes, and a touch of aristocratic ambiance.
The terrace by the Rondella has hosted summer hospitality for decades, with stage programming through the warm months right in the Castle Garden (Várkert). And for a sweet time warp, the 100-Year-Old Confectionery (Százéves Cukrászda), Hungary’s second oldest, has charmed since 1840. Its Empire-style building shelters painted walls, original Biedermeier furniture, and a lineup of old-school cakes, parfaits, candies, and ice creams. Restorations in the 1980s revived its Reform Era café vibe, a confectionery museum took over the former workshop, and a 2004 refresh ensured it remains a jewel of the Southern Great Plain.
