Hungary’s Grand Dessert Institution
Operating since 1840, this is Hungary’s second-oldest patisserie. Housed in a gorgeous Empire-style building, its painted walls and original Biedermeier furniture pair with classic cakes, parfaits, candies, and ice creams to whisk you back to the lively café culture of the 19th century. Because the shop was always a social hub—fragments of murals discovered in the vaults prove it—the 1984–1986 restoration revived its Reform Era atmosphere, while the former workshop became a confectionery museum stocked with period tools.
Lovingly Restored, Still Irresistible
