As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, Balatonlelle (Balatonlelle) transforms into a Halloween wonderland filled with vibrant and heartwarming festivities. Between October 25 and November 1, locals and visitors alike can dive into a week of excitement, adventure, and unforgettable experiences. From pumpkin-carving contests to wine hunts and spine-tingling night tours, there’s something to enchant every generation. This is autumn at its best: shared adventure, family fun, and magical moments by Lake Balaton (Balaton).
Pumpkin Power and Autumn Adventure
The festivities kick off on October 25 with “The PERFECT Day” Family Run at the Outdoor Stage. No clocks, no stress—just one kilometer (0.62 miles) of movement and laughter. Every finisher gets a medal, and participation is completely free, though pre-registration is required. Gather your friends, round up the whole family, and get moving for a fabulous, perfectly silly day.
After your morning run, head straight to Rádpuszta (Rádpuszta) for its irresistibly charming Pumpkin Festival at the Gastro Experience Farm. This event dazzles with colors, flavors, and creative energy: kids and adults can compete in pumpkin carving (learn tricks from master carver Benedek Kalmár, also known as the Pumpkin King), stroll through the artisan market, try balloon sculpting and face painting, and capture memories at the selfie wall. There are pony rides, a petting zoo, wagon rides, horseback riding, and a tasting menu of autumn flavors at the thatched-roof tavern. The festival is rounded out by music, with László Molnár (Molnár László) keeping spirits high, and surprise attractions popping up throughout the day.
Back in town, the outdoor stage comes alive with more free family fun, a craft fair, and searches for Balatonlelle’s most impressive pumpkin chef, most skilled carver, and sportiest family. Good food, drinks, and positive vibes included.
Rádpuszta (Rádpuszta) Family Adventure Day
The autumn adventure continues on October 26 with the Rádpuszta (Rádpuszta) Adventure Wheel, a festival of games and family-friendly activities. Board a lively mini-train from Balatonlelle’s Garden Cinema at 10:00 am ($2.70 per person; limited seats) or arrive by bike or car whenever you like. Expect a children’s playground, pumpkin carving, hands-on crafts, a giant pirate ship bounce house, and tasty seasonal treats served at special prices in the on-site restaurant. Early registration is strongly advised, especially for those hoping to secure a spot on the mini-train.
Wine Hunt Across the Town
Wine lovers and treasure hunters unite for the Balatonlelle (Balatonlelle) Wine Hunt on October 28. The quest? Discover hidden envelopes scattered around the town, take photos of the secret messages inside, share your findings on Facebook (tag @VisitBalatonlelle), and send the evidence via Messenger to claim your prize: a free bottle of delicious local wine. Every successful hunter walks away victorious—if you’re up for the challenge, start hunting and enjoy your reward!
Spooky Evenings and Mysterious Explorations
On October 29, join local historian Péter Kovács (Kovács Péter) at the main entrance of the cemetery for a torch-lit guided walk. Starting at 4 pm, participants explore Balatonlelle’s hidden history, legends, and the famous Szalay family grave. Illuminated by flickering torches, the evening promises an enchanting blend of mystery and local folklore.
By October 30, the atmosphere turns thrilling as Peace Park (Béke Park) transforms into a true Halloween adventure zone. At 5 pm, equipped with flashlights (mandatory!) and bold costumes, families and daring souls begin a hunt for bats and ghosts in the dark. Kids, parents, and every intrepid adventurer are set for spine-tingling fun and surprising thrills all night long.
Nightlife and Remembrance
On November 1, Balatonlelle’s Y Club pulses with the beats of the MYSTECH Halloween Edition party. Dance until dawn to thundering basslines and special Halloween décor, with top Hungarian DJs including PUREBEAT, RICK WAYNE, CHRISS JAY, LISSZA, GEGE, and WIZTY. Only the bold (ages 16 and up) need apply—the night is all about heavy beats and nonstop energy.
For those with a gentler spirit, All Saints’ Day brings “Eternal Memories—Messages for Our Loved Ones”: a communal, tranquil act of remembrance in the park next to the Outdoor Stage. Anyone can write a personal message or draw a memory at home, hang it on the Memory Tree, or light a candle at its roots. Messages are placed anonymously, celebrating empathy, unity, and the enduring power of memory. Bring your message—because the memories we carry in our hearts last forever.
