Nyírbátor (Nyírbátor) explodes with color and excitement on Friday, September 26, 2025, as the annual Harvest Parade sweeps through the town, drawing everyone from kids to grandparents for a day packed with fun and tradition. For over thirty years, this festival has made the last Friday of September a highlight on local calendars.
Jam-Packed Schedule for Everyone
Festivities kick off at 2 p.m. in Liberty Square (Szabadság tér) with the parade. By 3 p.m., the action shifts to Priests’ Meadow (Papok rétje) for greetings from the mayor, show-stopping performances by parade groups, and awards. At 4:30 p.m., Jakab Hat (Kalap Jakab) takes the stage.
Loads of Free Family Fun
Priests’ Meadow (Papok rétje) bursts with free activities: basket carousels, paintball target shooting, a wandering labyrinth, Samu the Hedgehog’s autumn puzzles, inflatable games (like a rodeo elephant), crafts with leather and wood, blacksmith demonstrations, grinning face painting, autumn treats, glitter tattoos, and more.
Republic Rocks the Night
At 7 p.m., the legendary band Republic performs in the old schoolyard (7 Mothers’ Street – Édesanyák útja 7). Tickets are $13.50, while city cardholders get in free. All other Harvest Parade events are also free, but organizers may adjust the schedule.
