Step inside the Fenékpuszta Manor (Fenékpusztai Majorság) near Keszthely in 2025 and you’ll travel through horse-breeding dynasties, spook-tacular Halloween chills, and hands-on crafts that will keep both kids and adults smiling.
Exhibition and Living History
On the lower floor of the Little Mansion (Kiskastély), a new exhibition spotlights the legendary Festetics family’s deep connection to horse breeding. Upstairs in the Count’s Room, portraits from five generations of the Festetics family bring aristocratic history to life. Beyond the mansion, horse lovers can explore a museum set up in the old cattle and herd stables—one part classic, another interactive—where you can discover the saga of the famed Fenékpuszta stud farm and the family’s passion for horse breeding and racing.
National Holiday Festivities
On October 23, carriage rides from the Little Mansion (Kiskastély) to the Pine Avenue (Fenyves allée) depart every half hour, inviting everyone to soak up the estate’s bygone atmosphere. At 2 PM, historian Ferenc Tar gives an intriguing talk about Keszthely’s tumultuous year in 1956. Meanwhile, from 10 to 4, little ones can get hands-on decorating linen horse-themed bags with the national colors and sipping hot punch.
Halloween at the Mansion
On October 31, the Little Mansion (Kiskastély) goes pitch dark and fills with spooky creatures. Brave souls equipped with lanterns can creep through haunted halls and even spot a real horse skeleton! The café tempts guests with pumpkin hot chocolate, and kids can craft jack-o’-lanterns to bring home from the ultimate chilling workshop.
