What’s on Offer
Local growers offer pesticide-free seasonal vegetables and fruits, handmade cheeses, smoked meats, homemade syrups and jams, fresh breads and cakes, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, and vegan baked goods, honey, gingerbread, and additive-free cosmetics. It’s all eco-friendly and organic, produced by folks tied to the area—no big chains here. New vendors include Hegymagasi Marhaságok with their tasty smoked meats and Levendula Porta offering wonderful cheeses. Beyond shopping, it’s a real community hangout: swap recipes, make friends, relax, and soak up the scene. This family-run agrotourism spot farms 20 hectares on the south slopes, with guesthouses for stays. The hill’s possibly smallest winery crafts unique, delicate handmade wines from special grapes, promising unforgettable tastings in a fantastic atmosphere. Gilvesy RĂłbert started his in 2012; purchase volcanic wines at the vinotĂ©ka during hours or by appointment, plus delivery and custom tastings.
Horváth Cellar (Horváth Pince), on the south side since 1996, works 18 hectares with modern processing and barrel-aging for some bottles. Nyári Cellar (Nyári Pince), 200 meters from Tarányi Cellar (Tarányi Pince) and Lengyel Chapel on the south flank, offers top-notch bulk and bottled wines with stunning views—tastings by reservation. Another Szent György-hegy vinotĂ©ka stays open daily year-round; from spring to fall, the revamped estate center’s Viridárium kitchen serves gastro and wine tourists.
