On October 23, 2025, Fenékpuszta Manor (Fenékpusztai Majorság) in Keszthely will throw open its gates for Hungary’s national holiday, inviting everyone to soak up the charm of the old Festetics estate. From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, horse-drawn carriages will depart every half hour from the Small Castle (Kiskastély), whisking visitors along the picturesque Fenyves Alley (Fenyves fasor)—a time-travel journey into Keszthely’s storied past.
Journey to 1956 with Ferenc Tar
At 2:00 PM, head to the event hall, where historian Ferenc Tar, known for his books on Keszthely and the Festetics family, will recount dramatic episodes from 1956 in his talk, “Keszthely in 1956.” It’s an insider’s look at local history on a day dedicated to national identity.
Fun for All Ages
From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, kids can dive into craft workshops, creating linen horse bags in national colors—with museum educators guiding their creative hands. Parents and friends can warm up with hot punch while getting into the holiday spirit.
