The Historical Playground in Keszthely transforms fun into a living, breathing adventure for families and kids aged 2 to 10. Between August 25 and 31, the Vienna Gate (Bécsi Kapu) Street venue turns its southern wing into a hub for arts and crafts, welcoming both preschool and school groups. Step into three other rooms for That’s What Cows Are Like (Ilyenek a tehenek)—an interactive exhibition revealing secrets about cows, milk, and dairy through playful, hands-on discovery.
Main Attraction: Festetics-Inspired Playzone
The centerpiece is a sprawling 2,174-square-foot (202 m²) playhouse, evoking the grand history of the Festetics family, with separate boys’ and girls’ rooms. Kids climb aboard a ship—a playful nod to the noble family’s boat-building legacy—equipped with a slide, climbing wall, and drawing table. Throughout the week, entertainers host creative, interactive programs so no one gets bored—there’s truly something for every child.
A Week of Theme Days
Kick off Monday with enchanting slide show storytimes, where the group chooses which magical tales to bring to life at 10 AM and 3 PM. Tuesday spices things up with board games, from treasure hunts to puzzles, letting kids flex their logic and dexterity. On Wednesday, favorite fairy tale heroes come to life with glitter tattoos and face painting.
Thursday promises a lively animal-themed quiz, Friday launches a treasure hunt inside and out, Saturday heats up with a competitive UNO party, and Sunday wraps it all up with Green Day—think crafty upcycling and pebble painting. The indoor slide, endless crafts, and stacks of games guarantee that Keszthely’s Historical Playground keeps the fun going strong all week long.
