The BábSzínTér ensemble is back in 2026, rolling out a lively season of puppet shows for kids in Vaszary Park in Kaposvár. Families will find weekday subscription performances for schools and kindergartens, festive Sunday matinees, and special touring dates—plus playful Bábmobil pop-ups at local kindergartens. All events list the venue as 7400 Kaposvár, 65–67 Fő Street (Fő utca).
April: Schooldays and Tiny Bears
April starts with school subscription shows of Babszem Jankó by Ziránó Theater (Ziránó Színház) on Tuesday, April 21 at 14:00, and Wednesday, April 22 at 14:00. The spotlight then shifts to preschoolers: MárkusTheater’s (MárkusZínház) Medvejáték takes the stage on Monday, April 27 at 09:00 and 11:00, then again on Tuesday, April 28 at 09:00 and 11:00. Expect gentle humor and hands-on storytelling—perfect for first theater memories.
May Sundays: Matinees for Moms and Families
Sunday, May 3 brings a Mother’s Day Matinee: Figurás playtime at 10:00, followed by a puppet show at 11:00—Az égig érő fa (The Tree Reaching the Sky) from Fabók Mancsi Puppet Theater (Fabók Mancsi Bábszínháza). A week later, on Sunday, May 10 at 10:00, the Family Matinee returns with playtime, then an 11:00 performance of Ha lúd, legyen kövér! (If a Goose, Then Make It Fat!) by Szigligeti Theater – Lilliput Company (Szigligeti Színház – Lilliput Társulat). It’s a family-friendly double bill of free play and folk-flavored theater.
Lázár Ervin Program: A Week of Classics
From May 11 to May 15, János Pályi (Pályi János) presents Vitéz László és az elátkozott malom (Vitéz László and the Cursed Mill) as part of the Lázár Ervin Program—closed performances running Monday to Friday at 09:00 and/or 11:00: May 11 (09:00, 11:00), May 12 (09:00, 11:00), May 13 (09:00, 11:00), May 14 (09:00, 11:00), and May 15 (09:00).
Tours, Schools, and the Bábmobil
The classic Vitéz László tale goes on the road: a touring show in Tatabánya on Sunday, May 17 at 11:30, and another on Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 in Kadarkút. Back in Kaposvár, school subscribers can catch MárkusTheater’s (MárkusZínház) Mátyás király szárnyai (The Wings of King Matthias) on Tuesday, May 19 at 14:00.
Pop-Up Puppet Play
The Bábmobil brings a hands-on exhibition and games to kindergartens: Wednesday, May 27 at 10:00 at the Nemzetőr Sori Tagóvoda, and Friday, May 29 at 10:00 at the Tallián Utcai Tagóvoda. It’s a traveling trove of puppets and play, turning hallways into tiny theaters.
