Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with botanical walks, story hour, choir concerts, and outdoor film-music night that work for multiple ages
+
Easygoing countryside escape in a safe, spacious 124-acre park—kids can roam while adults enjoy salons and chapel concerts
+
Mix of music, art, and fairs (garden days, applied arts, string quartet festival) gives you a lot of choice across seasons
+
English not strictly required—staff at European cultural venues often speak some English, and concerts/exhibits are easy to enjoy without Hungarian
+
Fehérvárcsurgó is a manageable day trip by car from Budapest; parking is straightforward and roads are good
+
Compared with similar European castle venues, prices and crowds are usually gentler than France/Germany, with an intimate, locals-first feel
+
The castle is part of a European cultural network, so quality of programming and production values are high - The location and the castle aren’t widely known to U.S. visitors, so you won’t get the “bucket-list” recognition factor
Cons
Reaching it by public transport is possible but fiddly (train/bus combos and limited schedules), so a rental car is easier
Some talks and conferences will be Hungarian- or Europe-policy–focused, which can be less engaging without the language
If you want blockbuster museum-style exhibits or large-scale festivals, bigger European cities offer flashier alternatives
