Budapest families have a new midweek ritual: KiddieTime, a lively Wednesday program series at the Óbuda Synagogue that blends music, learning, dramatic play, and Krav Maga for ages 3–10. It’s all about Jewish life, traditions, and values—minus the yawns—designed for kids and their parents to unwind and learn together from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday.
Music, Stories, Action
Each session unfolds in three acts. First up: a family music circle with Hebrew songs, prayers, and holiday melodies. Then comes the weekly Torah portion through drama pedagogy—guided play, role-play, and hands-on creation led by a dedicated drama educator. The finale? A movement block with Krav Maga led by a coach with experience from Israel, boosting not just fitness but confidence, discipline, and team spirit.
Who’s Behind It
KiddieTime is led by Zsuzsa Szilánk, head of education at EMIH (Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation). Program coordination is handled by Miri Radó, while Petra Nagy curates the Jewish content. Sessions are free but require registration.
