KiddieTime: free Wednesday parent-child program in Óbuda, Budapest blending Hebrew music, Torah drama, and kids krav maga for ages 3–10. Build confidence, learn traditions, and play together.
when: 2026.02.18., Wednesday
🎶
KiddieTime is a new Wednesday series at the Óbuda Synagogue blending music, learning, drama games, and krav maga to introduce Jewish traditions to kids ages 3–10. Every Wednesday from 4:30–6:00 PM, the community spaces at 1036 Budapest, District 3 – Óbuda, Lajos Street (Lajos utca) 163 fill with families for shared, experience-based learning and downtime. It’s a parent-child escape where the afternoon truly belongs to the kids.
Sing, Learn, Play
Each session runs in three parts. First up: a musical segment where children and parents discover Hebrew songs, prayers, and melodies tied to the holidays. Then comes the weekly Torah portion through drama pedagogy—guided by a drama educator, kids dive into stories with play, role-play, and creative making that turn lessons into lived moments.
Move with Confidence
The finale is movement: a krav maga class led by a coach with experience in Israel. Beyond exercise, it boosts confidence, discipline, and a sense of community. KiddieTime is led by Zsuzsa Szilánk, EMIH’s head of education, with programming by Miri Radó and Jewish content by Petra Nagy. Admission is free with registration. Upcoming dates in Budapest: 2026.02.18, 2026.02.25, 2026.03.04, 2026.03.11, 2026.03.18.

+
Located in Óbuda (District 3), which is safe and easy to reach by tram/bus; driving and rideshare are straightforward
+
Offers a community vibe that’s warmer and more personal than typical tourist attractions
- Not a globally famous event, so it won’t carry the “bucket list” wow factor
Cons
–
Venue (Óbuda Synagogue community space) isn’t as well-known to foreign visitors as central Pest landmarks
–
Some content is in Hebrew/Jewish context; while welcoming, families seeking fully secular programming might prefer other options
–
Midweek, fixed time slot may clash with sightseeing schedules or naps for younger kids
