Hajdúszoboszló keeps it playful all year. The Hungarospa spa complex rolls out family-friendly fun every Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Miki Mini Party, a lively animation session on the Kids’ World level upstairs at the Aqua-Palace Adventure Bath. The series runs throughout 2025, with dates lined up across the calendar—October 31 and November 1 kick things off over the long weekend, then continue on November 8 and November 15, with more weekends to be added. Bring the little whirlwinds; leave with happy, water-wrinkled smiles.
Where It All Happens
Find it at Aqua-Palace in the Hungarospa complex, 4200 Hajdúszoboszló, Szent István Park 1–3. The legendary spa town’s water wonderland needs no introduction, but the Miki Mini Party makes it even easier to keep kids entertained between slides and splashes. It’s built for families, tailored to different ages, and runs year-round.
Sleep Close, Swim Closer
Hajdúszoboszló’s green belt and hotel promenade hide a stack of stays steps from the pools. Hotel Barátság*** towers over the skyline as the city’s tallest building, which means panoramic views with your morning coffee. It offers 117 double rooms, six junior apartments, and 11 superior apartments. With an in-house bath and wellness facilities, it’s a solid pick for full-on rest and recovery across generations—and doubles as a venue for conferences, smaller meetings, and trainings.
Just a five-minute stroll—about 400 meters or 1,312 feet—from the beach area, one holiday house splits into four separate upstairs apartments: two doubles, one for four, and one for five. They’re open year-round, so bring your calendar and pick your season.
Prefer a hush-hush base? Several guesthouses sit in the resort district’s garden neighborhood, trading in on quiet and calm. The Thermal Bath (Gyógyfürdő) and Béke Bath (Béke Fürdő) are only minutes away on foot, so thermal-cure seekers don’t have to rush their slippers. Another pension sits right by the airport, a mere 100 meters (328 feet) from the beach and 400 meters (1,312 feet) from the Aquapark and the new Extreme Slide Park.
For a homey vibe, Alice Apartman has been welcoming families since 2010 in a peaceful pocket close to the beach, thermal pools, and Aqua-Palace. More apartment houses dot the resort quarter, usually a five-minute easy walk from the world-famous bath. On Kölcsey and Major Streets, newly built apartments lie just 100 and 200 meters (328 and 656 feet) from the main entrance, with restaurants, a market, and grocery stores around the corner.
One apartment house opened in June 2009 right inside the country’s largest spa-and-beach resort zone, 200 meters from the beach and only 150 meters (492 feet) from the bus station—quiet surroundings included. There’s also a guesthouse tucked into a cul-de-sac where not even through traffic can find you; free parking in the yard and a shared breakfast kitchen make it easy. Plenty of places sit right in the town center too, just a few minutes’ walk from the therapeutic pools.
Eats, Drinks, and Night Play
When the water time winds down, the city turns into a mini-arcade district. U-Pub pours a wide drink selection at what they call “friendly” prices, and it’s the only spot where you get an escape room, bowling, billiards, darts, air hockey, and foosball under one roof. They’ll host your private party on request.
Several hotels notch prime locations—one sits 300 meters (984 feet) from the Thermal Bath (Gyógyfürdő) entrance and 500 meters (1,640 feet) from the city center. Kemencés Csárda updates Great Plain (Alföld) traditions for today, with décor and menus modeled on old roadside taverns. Directly opposite the Thermal Bath (Gyógyfürdő), Lorena Restaurant goes for romantic-elegant vibes and a broad following, while Major Pension (Major Panzió) and its apartments stay in the spa zone’s quieter pocket: eight minutes’ walk to the winter entrance, two to the summer one.
One 107-room, family-forward hotel in the resort district comes with its own therapeutic and wellness wing. Room types range from doubles and triples to 2+2 family apartments, family rooms with bunk beds, and full suites. Expect color TVs, minibars, phones, and safes; many rooms add air conditioning and balconies. All come with private bathrooms, naturally.
New Menus and Sweet Fixes
Mirage Restaurant emerges from a full redesign all sleek and exclusive, lined with a mood-lit pálinka wall and a seasonal menu. Across town, a boutique-style inn pairs a cozy restaurant and patisserie, with 13 distinct room types for business travelers, couples, families, and forever-young regulars. Rooms hit a modern-elegant note, and you can pick between bathtubs or showers in each category.
Nr. 8 keeps grills hot in the bath district day and night, and its two terraces—open April through November—make it a go-to hangout. The 80-seat pergola is among the city’s largest, and the bar shakes up cocktails and warming sippers for evening wanderers.
For a quick bite a minute from the Hungarospa Thermal Bath (Gyógyfürdő) entrance, a pancake spot leans into autumn with salted-caramel crêpes amped up by apple and walnut fillings and a gingerbread latte winking from the coffee list. Pick from sweet or savory palacsinta, order lemonades, cocktails, and coffee specials, and don’t skip the artisan ice cream.
