Varied programs for lower and upper primary school kids at the Hungarian National Gallery: playful guided tours, monthly rotating creative workshops, and clubs exploring tales, drama, animation, and nature. Beyond sharing knowledge, museum educators focus on immersive experiences. On request, gallery visits can be extended with hands-on studio work, adding new angles to each theme through accessible techniques.
Recolor It! – Museum Studio for Kids
2025 November 26, 16:00–17:00
In November, theater moves right into the Gallery’s spaces. Kids step into artworks and try on different roles. They write and perform stories and, across sessions, craft the stage’s essentials: masks, puppets, headdresses—even a set design. They can be kings, queens, farm boys, or goose-girl shepherds—and yes, it’s all just play.
Children participate independently without a chaperone. After the program, they’re escorted back to the info desk as a group between 17:30 and 17:40. Meeting point: information desk. Age group: 6–12. Max capacity: 15 kids. Program fee: $6.60. The Creative Makerspace runs with a new theme every month and a different program each time. Sessions don’t build on each other, so you can join on any date. Monthly passes available: four sessions for $22.50 (instead of $26.40).

In December, the club invites kids on a magical winter journey through highlights of Hungarian art. Imagination wanders from icy, snowy landscapes to warm, cheerful homes, with a spellbinding story at every stop. While prepping for winter and the holidays, kids also meet Saint Nicholas, Mary, and the infant Jesus. After games and conversations in the galleries, the studio turns winter tales into art.
