May Highlights
May opens with a deep dive into one of Hungaryâs pivotal cultural policymakers. On May 7, Attila SzotĂĄk presents KunĂł Klebelsbergâs ministerial years, tracing his path from trained lawyer to MP, interior minister, and then nearly a decade as minister of religion and public education, driving major reforms.
Laughs follow on May 8, 18:00â20:00, when Megjöttem â LĂĄszlĂł Lakatosâs solo show â lands at DumaszĂnhĂĄz, Kistarcsa â CsigahĂĄz, with OlivĂ©r Wolf as the opening act. Tickets run $18.10.

On May 21, Erika SzĂŒcsnĂ© Göblyös explores child massage through the lens of polyvagal theory â a gentle touch-based method that supports childrenâs physical and emotional development, reduces stress, improves sleep, strengthens parentâchild bonding, boosts mobility, and calms the nervous system.
TamĂĄs Rist recounts the BudapestâBamako Rally on May 28. With Bamako in Mali off-limits due to instability, the route pushed onward to Freetown, Sierra Leone â a grueling journey of over 5,592 miles across rough African roads. On June 4, LĂĄszlĂł Nagy revisits the events of the Treaty of Trianon, signed on June 4, 1920, at the Grand Trianon in Versailles, which severed two-thirds of historic Hungaryâs territory and required peaceful arrangements with the occupying Czechoslovak, Serbian, and Romanian forces. June 5 brings a remembrance of MiklĂłs KirĂĄly.

On June 18, IldikĂł Obsitos serves up wine jam (BorlekvĂĄr), preserving the aroma and flavor of wine â without alcohol. Ideal for non-drinkers and wine lovers alike, it mirrors traditional jam-making, swapping fruit for wine.
June 20â21 gathers the Exhibition of Kistarcsa Artisans (Kistarcsai kĂ©zmƱvesek kiĂĄllĂtĂĄsa), a showcase of local craftspeople. On June 25, Ăgnes KĂłcziĂĄn takes audiences through Peruâs many faces, from Incan heritage to Amazonian jungles, with travel tales from Lima, Cusco, and Iquitos â the spoils of a three-week journey.
Fall and Yearâs End
September 14â20 brings KIKE Cultural Week (KIKE KulturĂĄlis HĂ©t), alongside the Görhöny Festival (GörhönyfesztivĂĄl) and another Heritage Walk. October 10 hosts a National Evening (Nemzeti est). From October 23â25, the 70th Anniversary of the Revolution â Exhibition commemorates 1956. November 8 features Falling Leaf (HullĂł FalevĂ©l). On December 28, the town closes the year with a World War II commemoration.
