The aim: energize local culture, spark community involvement, and support self-organized groups from Kistarcsa and nearby towns. Most events center around 2143 Kistarcsa, Batthyány St. 2/A, at the Basic Services Center (Alapszolgáltatási Központ), with satellite venues at József Simándy Primary School (Simándy József Általános Iskola), Csigaház, and Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere).
Rare Hounds, Big History
May 14: Historian Gergely Bödők spotlights the Transylvanian Hound (Erdélyi kopó), the rarest of Hungarian dog breeds, and unpacks traditional hound hunting past and present. See real working and obedience tasks in action—recall and stay—while learning what daily life is like with this Hungarikum breed.
Kistarcsai Days: Exhibitions Open
May 15, 7 p.m.: Grand opening of the 29th Kistarcsai Days (Kistarcsai Napok) exhibitions in the atrium of József Simándy Primary School. The shows run May 16–17, Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., curated again by the Cultural Association. Expect a packed lineup of curiosities and local creativity throughout the school’s spaces.
Touch, Calm, Connect
May 21: Erika Szücsné Göblyös explores child massage through the lens of polyvagal theory. This gentle, touch-based method supports children’s physical and emotional development, eases stress, improves sleep quality, strengthens parent-child bonding, boosts mobility, and soothes the nervous system.
Sahara Tracks to Freetown
May 28: Tamás Rist tells the story of the Budapest–Bamako rally’s route shift from Bamako, Mali, to Freetown, Sierra Leone, amid instability. The journey stretches over 5,592 miles on punishing African roads, where navigation and endurance are as critical as horsepower.

May 31: Heroes’ Day (Hősök Napja) at Heroes’ Square honors the fallen.
June 4: László Nagy revisits the events of the Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920, when the Versailles Treaty at the Grand Trianon Palace severed two-thirds of historic Hungary’s territory, forcing a peaceful settlement with occupying Czechoslovak, Serbian, and Romanian forces.
June 5: A centenary commemoration for Miklós Király, who died in a motorcycle accident on June 4, 1926, in Mátyásföld—wreath-laying and the Király family story.
