Visegrád brings back its crowd-pleasing medieval Saturdays this season, pairing a full-throttle knights’ tournament at Solomon Tower (Salamon-torony) with a princely banquet at the Renaissance Restaurant (Renaissance Étterem). It’s the only weekly show of its kind in Hungary, and yes, it happens every Saturday.
Be Crowned for a Day
Members of the Order of Saint George (Szent György) stage a 14th-century-style tournament, fighting for the favor of a king and queen chosen from the audience. The newly minted royals are cloaked and crowned, then summon the armored contenders, who show off archery and dueling skills with period weapons before the royal couple and their guests.
Swords, Laughter, and a Hunting Hawk
The bouts are authentic, fast, and sprinkled with humor, channeling the daredevil spirit of medieval knights. A royal hunting hawk takes flight to electrify the crowd. To cap it off, guests can try the weapons themselves with the knights’ guidance.
