Mac DeMarco, the eternally laid-back, affable anti-pop star, returns to Budapest (Budapest) on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, for his biggest standalone show in Hungary yet at Budapest Park (Budapest Park). The Canadian cult favorite, who calls his lo-fi blend “jizz-jazz,” has charmed both diehard fans and critics with his offbeat melodies and deadpan humor. He last played here in 2017 at the Island Festival (Sziget), and now he’s rolling in with Guitar, the record he dropped last year.
A one-man album, start to finish
True to form, DeMarco went full DIY on Guitar: he wrote, recorded, mixed, and even shot the cover photo himself—leaving only the mastering to someone else. The result is intimate, rough-edged, and unmistakably Mac—the kind of hazy, late-afternoon soundtrack that turns a summer night into a memory.
Budapest Park gets the chill treatment
Expect sun-faded grooves, unhurried banter, and that familiar slack genius as DeMarco turns Budapest Park (Budapest Park) into a warm, warbly living room. Cover photo by Frank Hoensch/Getty Images.
