Hatvan’s Hunyadi Square Market: Where Flavors Meet Tradition
The Hunyadi Square Market (Hunyadi tér Piac) runs Tuesday to Sunday, 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Mondays are for recovery, as the market is closed, and special holidays may bring schedule changes. Visitors find themselves surrounded by the colors and aromas of the best the region has to offer. Alongside farm-fresh produce, the market boasts culinary treasures and a relaxed atmosphere, making it a magnet for both locals and travelers looking to experience the real Hungary.

Mansions, Parks, and Sleepy Escapes
Nestled within 32 acres of towering trees near Budapest is the Pine Grove Castle Hotel (Fenyőharaszt Kastélyszálló), housed in the classicist Podmaniczky Castle (Podmaniczky-kastély). Beautifully restored as a three-star hotel, it offers 23 air-conditioned rooms and three outbuildings. The castle and its ancient park promise tranquility for those drawn to historic charm or companies seeking a private, discreet retreat.
Step back into Hungary’s aristocratic past at Erdőtarcsa (Erdőtarcsa), known as the “village of mansions.” Several castles dot this scenic community, including the 1870 Baroque-style Szent-Miklóssy-Kubinyi Mansion (Szent-Miklóssy-Kubinyi kúria), now serving as a guest residence and creative retreat for the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Guests can stroll along rose-scented pathways, admire the fountains, and linger beside picturesque garden lakes.
The Anna Grove (Anna-liget), set at the foothills of the Mátra range in Szurdokpüspöki (Szurdokpüspöki), welcomes campers, youth groups, and hikers. This spot embodies the spirit of adventure for anyone craving a piece of the Hungarian countryside.
