A winter weekend like the old days, with a wellness twist. In Mezőkövesd, the Hajnal Hotel rolls out a live-music, all-you-can-eat disznótoros feast from January through the end of April 2026, then again from mid-October to December. Think juicy hurka and crispy kolbász, rich roasts, toros cabbage, and classic Hungarian sweets—wrapped in that warm village vibe and backed by a spa you can duck into between meals. The scent, the songs, the dancing, the laughter: it’s the full Matyóföld experience without giving up comfort.
Friday to Sunday, it’s a curated throwback. Friday night sets the mood with a buffet dinner and live music, turning arrivals into a shared party. Saturday turns up the volume on tradition, from dawn to dessert, while Sunday waves you off with a hearty breakfast that insists you leave full and smiling. The event runs with a minimum of 40 guests, so the communal buzz is very much part of the plan.
What’s on the Table
Saturday’s the big day, and it starts early. Between 7:00 and 9:00, pick up one pálinka and one cup of mulled wine per person at reception, then roll into a generous buffet breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00. Lunch doubles down on classics: pork broth (orjaleves) with fine noodles and vegetables, toros cabbage, roast meats with potatoes, and fresh strudel. By evening, the disznótor with live music takes over: soups; roast meats and ribs; hurka and kolbász; mashed potatoes with onions; stuffed cabbage; and, for dessert, mézes krémes and pudding. Sunday’s buffet breakfast signs off with cracklings and bacon—because restraint isn’t part of the script.
Wellness and the Extras
Between meals, guests can slip into the Hajnal Hotel’s wellness area to rest, reset, or make room for round two. The whole setup suits anyone who loves Hungarian home cooking, appreciates a spirited night with live tunes, and wants a special-but-homely weekend in Mezőkövesd. Address: 3400 Mezőkövesd, Hajnal u. 2.
