A long, indulgent weekend of classic Hungarian flavors, clinking glasses, and live music is on tap at the Hajnal Hotel in Mezőkövesd. The Disznótoros Weekend wraps the nostalgic spirit of a traditional pig-slaughter feast into a comfy hotel stay with wellness perks, generous buffets, and a friendly, homey vibe. It’s made for anyone craving old-school tastes without giving up a soft bed and a spa session.
When, Where, How
Dates run January–April and October–December 2026, with fixed weekend slots. The event takes place at the Hajnal Hotel, 3400 Mezőkövesd, Hajnal u. 2., and goes ahead with a minimum of 40 guests. Friday-to-Sunday stays set the tone: you arrive, you feast, you relax, you repeat.
Friday: Warm-Up With Live Music
Friday evening kicks off with a buffet dinner set to live music. It sets the mood: hearty portions, raised glasses, and that shared-table buzz that makes the whole house feel like family. Consider it the overture to the weekend’s sprawling disznótoros experience.
Saturday: Full Disznótor Mode
The day starts early with a proper countryside nudge. Between 7:00 and 9:00, pick up 1 shot of pálinka per person and 1 cup of mulled wine at reception. Then comes the buffet breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00.
At noon, tradition comes to the table: a buffet lunch stacked with orjaleves (pork rib soup) with thin noodles and vegetables; toros cabbage; roast meats with potatoes; and fresh strudel. The evening is the headliner: a disznótor with live music and a bountiful buffet of soups; roast cuts and ribs; hurka (blood and liver sausage) and kolbász (sausage); mashed potatoes with fried onions; stuffed cabbage; and desserts like honey cream slice and pudding. It’s the full-throttle, laugh-out-loud, pass-the-platter version of Hungarian hospitality.
Sunday: One More Hearty Send-Off
Close it out with a buffet breakfast that doesn’t skimp: think cracklings and bacon among the spreads. It’s the right way to cap a weekend full of big portions and bigger smiles.
Wellness, Too
Between meals, the hotel’s wellness area is open for unwinding and recharging. The property sits 150 meters from the famed Zsóry Thermal and Beach Bath (Zsóry Gyógy- és Strandfürdő), and the hotel itself offers certified healing water. A peaceful location, friendly pricing, and treatment options round things out.
