It’s a package for anyone who wants the atmosphere of a classic disznótor while enjoying spa time, easy arrivals, and hearty meals. The event runs on weekends from January through April and again October to December 2026, and is organized with a minimum of 40 guests.

Friday Arrival, Live Music, Big Buffet

Check in on Friday and jump straight into a buffet dinner with live music, a mood-setter for the days ahead. The hotel’s warm, family vibe and attentive service make it social and relaxed from the first plate to the last song.

Saturday: The Full Disznótor Day

The day starts early in festive spirit. Between 7:00–9:00 at reception, guests get one shot of pálinka and one cup of mulled wine per person. A generous buffet breakfast follows, 7:00–10:00. At noon, it’s all about classic flavors: buffet lunch with pork broth soup with thin noodles and vegetables, toros cabbage, roast pork with potatoes, and fresh strudel. The evening peaks with the disznótor and live music. The buffet lays it on thick: soups; roast pork and ribs; blood sausage and sausage; mashed potatoes with onions; stuffed cabbage; desserts like honey cream slice and pudding. Sunday wraps the weekend with a final buffet breakfast stacked with pork cracklings and bacon.

Wellness, Location, Vibe

Beyond the food, the Hajnal Hotel’s wellness area is open for recovery and recharge. The hotel sits 3 km from Mezőkövesd and 150 meters from the Zsóry Thermal and Beach Bath (Zsóry Gyógy- és Strandfürdő) with unique sulfur water. The hotel has certified medicinal water, offering affordable rooms, restaurant service, and cure programs in a quiet spot near the spa. Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with buffet meals, live music, and a spa steps away, so kids and grandparents can all find their thing
+
Topic has strong local roots (traditional disznótor) but is easy to enjoy even if you’ve never heard of it—think pork-centric food fest plus wellness
+
Location near Zsóry Thermal Bath is a win for foreign visitors; thermal spas are a classic Hungarian highlight and easy to recognize
+
No Hungarian needed for the core experience; food is buffet-style and the hotel staff at spa hotels usually handle basic English fine
+
Getting there is doable by car from Budapest in about 1.5–2 hours; by train to Mezőkövesd plus short taxi makes it manageable on public transport
+
Good value for a U.S. tourist: 2-night packages around $145–$164 pp with tons of food and spa access, plus kid discounts
+
Compared to similar pork/harvest feasts elsewhere, this blends authentic rural flavor with resort-like wellness better than most in Central Europe
Cons
The event and town aren’t internationally famous, so you won’t get big-name entertainment or extensive English signage
If you or your kids don’t eat pork, options will feel limited despite the buffets
Requires a minimum of 40 guests, so dates can shift or cancel if a group doesn’t form
Public transport the final mile needs a taxi or local bus; driving is simpler but winter roads can be icy
