Music, Wine, And 100 Violins: Budapest’s Gala Night Returns

Experience Budapest's iconic MUSIC-WINE gala on December 30th—enjoy the 100 Gypsy Orchestra, stunning solos, festive dining, and fine Hungarian wines at Novotel Budapest City.
when: Tuesday, December 30
where: 1124 Budapest - 12. kerület - Hegyvidék, Jagelló u. 1-3.

Every year on December 30th, Budapest becomes home to an unforgettable celebration: the MUSIC-WINE festival (ZENE-BOR), now marking its 29th run in 2025. This long-standing tradition delivers a dazzling gala concert led by the world-famous 100-Member Gypsy Orchestra (100 Tagú Cigányzenekar). The massive orchestra’s signature sound blends virtuoso gypsy tunes with classical and folk music, all in unique arrangements found nowhere else.

Unmatched Performances and Iconic Melodies

This year’s repertoire continues to honor tradition, treating fans to favorites by composers Franz Lehár (Ferenc Lehár) and Emmerich Kálmán (Imre Kálmán). Accompanied by star soloists from the Operetta Theatre (Operettszínház), the concert is split into two parts and concludes with a spectacular fireworks show. József Lendvai Csócsi (Lendvai Csócsi József), the principal violinist, leads the orchestra through can’t-miss closers: Pacsirta (“The Lark”) and the Radetzky March. More than just an annual performance, 2025 marks the orchestra’s 40th jubilee, promising a feast for all the senses.

Gourmet Gala Evening

For those craving more than music, the event pairs the concert with an epic culinary experience. Guests receive a welcome drink upon arrival and can opt for a four-course festive dinner—think duck liver torchon with candied orange chutney and mangalitsa (mangalica) ham, guinea fowl consommé, bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with gratin potatoes, and pumpkin seed choux with raspberries. Vegetarian options are available upon request. Budget-friendly options include a cold supper plate featuring delicacies like salmon gravlax, goat cheese tart, and eggplant tartare. Every meal includes bread, salted butter, selected wines—red, white, or rosé—mineral water, and coffee.

Ticket Options and Venue

Ticket prices range widely: VIP dinner seats at an eight-person table for $233, down to more affordable options, with balcony seats (no meal) starting at $51. Organizers reserve the right to expand tables or adjust the program as needed.

This grand Budapest event is hosted at Novotel Budapest City & Congress Center, with KOCH Winery and the celebrated Hajós-Baja and Villány wine regions as primary sponsors. Don’t miss Budapest’s biggest festive night of music, food, and tradition!
