From symphonic blockbusters and operetta dazzlers to gospel joy and rockabilly swagger, the 2026 New Year concert calendar is stacked with classics, crossovers, and late-night surprises. Tickets are available online, and the mood is festive: think tradition blended with fresh twists, big stages and intimate halls, champagne sparkle and choral thunder. Here’s where and when to dive in.
January 1: Grand Openings
At 16:00, Budapest’s Müpa sets a glowing tone with highlights from Haydn’s The Creation, tailored for young audiences. Also at 16:00, Szekszárd fires up a Queen Symphonic concert as the Szolnok Symphony teams with the Crazy Little Queen Tribute Band at the Babits Mihály Cultural Center. One hour later, Keszthely’s Balaton Theatre hosts A zene, az maga a szeretet (“Music Is Love Itself”), a heart-on-sleeve New Year event at 17:00.
From 18:00, the options multiply. The Hungarian Radio Art Ensembles bring Újévi Nyitány 2026 (New Year Overture 2026) to the Liszt Academy in Budapest, while Tatabánya’s Vértes Agóra launches its own 2026 New Year Concert, and Sopron joins the festivities with a city New Year program.
Prime time at 19:00: Budapest, te csodás! (“Budapest, You Wonderful!”) shines as a New Year gala at the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár); Eger’s Gárdonyi Géza Theatre welcomes a gala with the Eger Symphony Orchestra; violinist Zoltán Mága stages his 18th Budapest New Year’s Concert (XVIII. Budapesti Újévi Koncert) at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena (Papp László Budapest Sportaréna); Veszprém’s Hangvilla hosts a New Year evening with the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra; and Kecskemét’s Hírös Agóra presents its 2026 New Year Concert. At 19:30, Müpa returns to Haydn’s The Creation for the formal New Year Concert.
January 2: Gala Mode
Tatabánya doubles down with a second 2026 New Year Concert at 18:00 at the Vértes Agóra. At 19:00, Balatonfüred’s Congress Center pops the cork with Musical- és Operettcsillagok – a Sparkling New Year Gala Concert; Kaposvár’s Csiky Gergely Theatre hosts Újévi Nyitány 2026; Budapest’s MOM Cultural Center features accordion virtuoso Zoltán Orosz and Friends; and Veszprém’s Hangvilla turns the spotlight on the Vera Tóth Band (Tóth Vera Band) with Dívák Újéve (“New Year of the Divas”). A majestic 20:00 New Year’s Organ Concert fills Budapest’s St. Stephen’s Basilica, and at 21:00 Budapest’s Vörös Neon Bar & Variety (Vörös Neon Bár & Varieté) swings into rockabilly with Péter Egri and the Mystery Gang (Egri Péter és a Mystery Gang).
January 3–5: Big Weekender
Saturday, January 3, starts early at 11:00 in Székesfehérvár’s Vörösmarty Theatre. Evening highlights include Serbian brass legend Boban Marković Orkestar at Budapest’s Csili Cultural Center (18:00); a New Year Concert in Eger at Hotel Eger & Park – Liget Hall (18:00); two Hot Jazz Band shows with dinner options at Napfényes Restaurant & Event Hall in Budapest (18:30); and Zoltán Mága’s Debrecen New Year Concert at Főnix Aréna (19:00), repeated the same night. Also at 19:00: the Duna Symphony plays a New Year Gala at the Marczibányi Téri Cultural Center; the Győr National Theatre mounts an operetta-and-musical gala; and the Budapest Congress Center hosts Vienna – Budapest (Bécs – Budapest) with the Danubia Orchestra.
Sunday, January 4, keeps pace: 11:00 Hangfogó 2. Újévi köszöntő 25/26 (New Year’s Greeting 25/26) at the Concerto Zeneház in Budapest, then triple operetta-and-musical galas in Győr at 15:00 and 19:00, and Salgótarján’s New Year Gala at 17:00. Müpa’s Hagyományok Háza Újévköszöntő 2026 (House of Traditions New Year’s Greeting 2026) lands at 19:30.
January 5, 19:00: the Szeged National Theatre presents Újévi Hangverseny – Amerika 250 (New Year’s Concert – America 250), tipping a hat to the U.S. semiquincentennial with an American-themed program.
January 6–12: Gospel, Strings, Klezmer
January 6, 19:00: The Original Golden Voices of Gospel bring a New Year joy concert to the Budapest Congress Center. January 7, 20:00: the tour reaches Szombathely Cathedral; January 8, 19:00: Miskolc, House of Arts. January 9, 19:00 in Budapest: the MÁV Symphony Cello Ensemble’s New Year concert at Eötvös10. The same night, festive operetta fever spreads: Kiskunlacháza’s Petőfi Cultural Center hosts Hurrá, hurrá!; the Miskolc National Theatre holds a New Year concert with the local symphony; Siófok’s Imre Kálmán Cultural Center stages a New Year Gala; and Gyöngyös pops Borban a vigasság – a bubbly Operetta Gala.

January 13, 20:00: the gospel tour resonates in Szeged Cathedral. January 14 brings violin star power as Zoltán Mága plays Székesfehérvár’s Alba Regia Sports Hall (19:00), while Budapest’s MOM Cultural Center hosts a joint New Year Gala by the György Solti Orchestra (Solti György Orchestra) and the Divertimento Chamber Orchestra at 18:00. January 15, 19:00: Vác unwraps a Best of Musicals night.
January 16 stacks the deck: Kisújszállás heats up Hurrá, hurrá! at 18:00; Emőd welcomes a Miskolc Symphony New Year at 18:30; Budapest’s Angyalföld AJAMK presents the Luminare String Quartet’s Klassz-Pop on 16 Strings (KLASSZ-POP) at 19:00; Szekszárd hosts Borban a vigasság; and Budapest’s MKUK Altemplom Theatre pours a bubbly duo night with Bori Orbán and Kristóf Pánczél. January 17 has Hatvan’s Candlelit New Year with the local chamber orchestra’s soloists at 17:00 and 20:00; Maglód’s brass-flavored New Year at MagHáz (18:00); and twin Borban a vigasság shows in Győr’s Richter Hall (15:00 and 19:00).

January 23 revives Hurrá, hurrá! at Budapest’s Csepel Workers’ Hall (Csepeli Munkásotthon) (18:00), while Nagykanizsa’s Sándor Hevesi Cultural Center hosts a New Year Best of Musicals at 19:00. January 24, Miskolc’s House of Arts pours Borban a vigasság – New Year Operetta Gala at 15:00 and 19:00, and Nyíregyháza’s Continental Aréna welcomes Zoltán Mága’s New Year Concert at 19:00. January 29, 19:00, closes the book with Pop, Swing & Soul.
